Due to recent verbal outbursts at Ohio Valley Wrestling events, WWE has suspended Jim Cornette. One in particular saw Cornette verbally tear Kevin Fertig apart for wearing a baseball cap in a dark match. Everyone at RAW was under the impression that Cornette was to be disciplined and it seems that his punishment has been revealed.
Tommy Dreamer informed the OVW talent roster that Cornette would be going on "vacation" for the next 4 to 5 weeks, and that he would over see Cornette's duties. Al Snow and Danny Davis will be assisting Dreamer during Cornette's leave of absence.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that Jim Cornette requested his time off. He was upset with things that have taken place and the overall quality of the last two week's of OVW TV tapings. The company felt he was hitting a wall, so he was granted a 5 week leave of absence. Al Snow, Tommy Dreamer, Danny Davis and Lance Storm will be handling his work load until he returns

Cornett IS OVW. I'm surprised he has lasted this long without a meltdown or stressing out. I hope the WWE isn't stupid enough to try and do without him. I wonder if part of his annoyance is due to him creating characters and getting workers over only to have them go to WWE, get their acts totally changed and then fail? Also, having workers pulled before they are ready sucks because when they don't get over it looks like the teacher failed.

Full story....
Many are blaming Kevin Fertig (Mordecai) for Jim Cornette's latest outburst, an outburst that was seen as the final straw in what led WWE to give him a 4-6 week leave of absence.
Fertig and Daniel Puder teamed up against Kendo Suzuki and El Diablo at the OVW TV taping last Wednesday in a match mainly designed to give Suzuki and Puder some work before a live audience.
During the match, Fertig came to the ring with a baseball cap on backwards and basically goofed off during the bout, not taking it seriously. Jim Cornette, who is very old school and traditional, sent word to the ring that he needs to stop his antics. Instead of stopping, Fertig took a fan's sombrero and continued his behavior. Upon his return to the back, Cornette ripped into Fertig with a very colorful promo. The outburst looks to have been the final incident that led to Cornette getting taken off the OVW team for the time being.
Fertig has grown very unpopular in some circles. While he is talented, he is said to be taking a lot of shortcuts and very concerned with "popping the boys" rather than improving. Fertig also has a civil case coming up due to beating up a guy at a Louisville bar awhile back.
Some feel that Cornette will eventually be fired since John Laurinaitis is interested in getting rid of the "old school" guys and replacing them with young guys that are loyal to him. Jim Ross apparently prevented Cornette from being fired and reduced his punishment to a 4-6 week leave of absence.
Tommy Dreamer will be handling most of Cornette's OVW responsibilities for now.

WWE wants to get rid of old school guys.....you think Vince wouldn't have done the same thing or worse if someone did that on RAW?

Fertig is also the name linked to the Lance Storm situation where he told the guys to ignore the locker room b.s. Fertig is said to be the one told the Bashams? and either they or he told JBL & Holly. Regardless, it it wasn't for Cornette, Fertig wouldn't even be noticed by the WWE and for him to act an ass like that is garbage.
Laurinatus is not old school like Ross, Cornette, Heyman or anyone else. He is a political player. His ability to become Giant Babas right hand and now Stephanies right hand proves just how good he is at playing the game. What is strange in everything that is happening in the WWE is that HHH seems obsessed with 70s & 80s NWA wrestling copying Flair, Race and the old matches yet he doesn't seem to care (or be able to stop) the WWEs crapping on traditional wrestling or their over infatuation with strippers.

Its too bad Cornette and Heyman don't get along. Can you imagine if those two worked together on an indy promotion with a bit of size? It would be even better to present it as two promotions with them fueding with each other. The promos they would cut on each other would be amazing.

Only problem with the above post is the fact that word came in that it wasnt indeed a suspension like originally thought. Jim Cornette wanted time off as he felt he was hitting a wall, and was granted time off. Most assumed it was due to the fertig incident, when in actuality, Cornette wanted the time off.
Though I wont be surprised if Cornette is gone eventually, since hes freaking out so bad over anything thats not old school.

Ok. Then it wasnt a "punishment" as most people thought it was. It was then later reported that he requested the time off, and WWE felt he was hitting a wall and granted him the time off. It wasnt forced on him. It was by HIS request.
