This is tremendously gay. It took till 5 days before the fight just to announce Zentovs vs. Yvel. I was expecting some huge news like Lesnar or W. Silva or Arona and we get Yvel. Pride must be desparated to bring Yvel back.
I guess none of the MW wanted to fight in the open weight GP.

Very lame. I hate how Pride keeps Yvels around. He should be banned from MMA for ko'ing that ref.

You would think they'd check that kind of thing before announcing the event. Did somebody back out at the last minute?

Probably. Putting Yvel in the GP looks like a desparation move because you could of put a MW star up agasint Zenstov.

Yvel is 1-6-1 in Pride. WTF. This is the GP.
Whose at the controls here, Mr. Sakikabarbara?

Uninteresting??? This is HORRIBLE!!!! Dont be afraid to use this words against PRIDE. This is what you call most of the matches in the UFC, why not call them in PRIDE as well. It is not a SIN.

Apparently this match (zenstov-Yvel) isn't part of the GP or just a backup match in case Fedor's not ready for CC.
But it is still a letdown. Only Coleman-Silva could save the morale of this show right now.
I don't see how anyone here or in Japan can get excited about Gilbert Yvel.

Just to inform, Yvel/Zentsov is not a part of the GP. 7 guys advance to the 2nd round, with Fedor being #8 for the 2nd round.

does anybody know how the brackets play out? is it possible for a crocop/fedor rematch?

The only recent PRIDE tournaments that featured brackets were the Bushido GPs in the fall and I don't believe this GP is going to have any. I'm not sure about the 2000 GP, but I don't believe either of the MW GPs nor the HW GP featured brackets. In all likelihood they'll announce the matchups 2-3 weeks before the next event, hopefully sooner than 5 days before the event though.

And this match has been rumoured for quite a while, and Zentsov's getting screwed over if he's not in the GP after winning his supposed 'qualifying match' against Rizzo. Both are lackluster matchups, but with Yvel in the ring there's always the off chance that some crazy **** is gonna go down.

What else is knew? Sakikibara and the Pride execs really need to sit down and come up with a plan. This card is an utter joke. They have all the financial backings and means to put on a mega card. Yet they disappoint again. The card will be rigged so its Mirko/Fedor in the finals. Thats why there are no brackets. Hopefully they put Silva/Coleman or Arona. To at least give two good fights on the card. People talk about Dana, but Id take Dana and his egotisitical antics any day over Sakikibara.

Honestly the only way i'll be happy with this fight is if gilbert gets' his face smashed(literally) and is thrown in the alley behind the arena like a bag of trash.

The only way it would turn "exciting" is if Yvel goes nuts and pulls a Ron Artest into the crowd lol... :-D

no , how about they just put up an exciting fight since they both like to stand and honestly I cant remember any good yvels fights where the fight stays standing, so I really cant tell how good he is with mma stand up fighters.

that's a good comparison. honestly, i don't who's worse, Artest or Yvel. I remember Artest playing in St John's in here NYC, and back then he wasn't this naughty.
