9 months by the NSAC plus a 5k fine. Thats 1/3 of his fight purse. Bonner may be on welfare by the time the suspension is over. I hope he is making some change working in a dojo or he has an endorsement or two to tide him over.

Don't do roids.

From what I understand his 9 months began from the date of the positive test, so it looks like May 2007 and he is back fighting for someone else if Dana doesn't make an example of one of his golden boys

Really, how ****ing stupid do you have to be? I can only guess that most people use and actually get away with it, don't get caught. And Bonnar was betting on that. What do you guys think? What are your chances of getting caught? 2%...less?

Bonnar is just another TUF kid that sucks anyway, so who cares?

He had his best fight in the TUF final and thats the last decent fight that were going to be seeing of him.

That sucks ! Definetly not deserved considering how big of a penalty that is to his income.

Which brings up a very valid question. What do you all think about Bonnar and his future in the UFC? Or, if there 'is' one. I personally think he will fight in the UFC again. But one could make a good argument either way...

I don't know what the future holds for the kid to be honest.

UFC was a day almost 2 late posting the news that he had a positive test, now at 3:15 in the morning they have posted he was suspended for the positive test.

In a selling sence Dana will probably keep him restricted to UFN cards because he is a draw with the TUF generation but this will certainly tarnish his reputation for the rest of his fight career and beyond. Many of the mainstream fighters that have tested positive still have that fact mentioned in ANY news post and Q and A session they do or are written about them (Josh B and Kimo to name 2)

*yea yea Kimo is not a very mainstream fighter anymore but not an article goes by where it is not mentioned*

Bonnar will be back fighting in the UFC. It seems the guys who get caught roiding and then adamantly deny doing it get the boot, while guys who just fall on the sword, and admit they screwed up are brought back, and that seems like what Bonnar did. I know it's not a commonly shared sentiment, but I liked watching him fight alot. I thought he was a good showman, had good mic skills, and with the exception of the Rashad Evans fight, I thought all his UFC fights were entertaining. He's not a top calibre, or championship guy, but he came to fight every time, and guys like that are the best to watch.

True but when you do stupid things like take steroids, which are illegal, you have to be prepared to face whatever concequences follow. It's his own fault.

you need to think about the other fighters, the guys who dont juice or atleast who are smart enough not to get caught would not like to fight some moron like bonnar. If i was in the ufc I wouldnt want to fight him and if they told me i have to i would say that im starting my cycle right now then so its fair. If a fighter can come into the ring with brass nuckels wouldnt you want a pair too?

Steroids + getting caught = no big deal to most people.

While fines and bans may hurt the culprit, I think the stigma being labelled a cheat for doping or using 'roids is losing it's impact with the general public. It's almost as commonplace as hearing about a politician getting caught in a scandal.

Bonnar will be back but I see him in the role of a can. Someone for the new generation of fighters to beat for some street cred.

Bonnar isnt going anywhere. Dana takes care of the fighters who do well for him and come out to fight. Alot of ppl arent fan of Bonnar's, and I'm not saying they should be but his match with Griffin is what I would mark as the introduction of UFC/MMA into the mainstream media. On that point alone, I dont think Dana would leave him high and dry.

His 15 minutes are up. Reminds me of the Simpsons epidose where Bart has the catchphrase "I didn't do that" but nobody cares anymore.

Since we're talkign about the future, We'll just have to wait and see. Either one of could be right. We will have to wait at least 9 months.
