With the seemingly endless number of new mma promotions that are popping up daily, we are going to be seeing alot more unknown guys on fight cards. The McDojos are going to be emptying out with guys getting jobs in "mma." The newest promotion is headed by a retired boxing referee named Steele. I forget the exact name but its something like Steele Cage Promotions.

B) Gonzaga scoring the biggest upset of the year.

Since I want to see great matches with Crocop eating through the UFC division, I hope Gonzaga hasn't channeled the spirit of Matt Serra to score the upset.

Absolutely the worst thing that could have happened. Nobody wants to see Gonzaga vs Randy or anyone else. Now Crocop goes back to ground zero and has to rebuild. He never should have grown the goatee of death.

This is great for two reasons...

2. randy vs gonzaga will be a good fight
3. crocop vs big tim! haha

The problem for the UFC is that now Crocop has been destroyed as a money draw. The casual UFC fan will wonder why Crocop had such a badass rep when he can't win but one fight in the UFC. Dana has to be bawling over the millions of bucks that future Crocop fights would have drawn. Its rehab time for Crocop to get back in the money.
Randy vs Gonzaga might be an ok fight but it won't draw 1/3 of what Randy vs Crocop would have. No matter what the buy rates are, Randy will be Responsible for all but 1 buy which will be Gonzagas mama. I don't dislike Gonzaga but this threw the division into even more chaos.

It was a standing head kick ala Cro Cop himself! Just like Cro Cop on Vovchanchyn or Vanderlei. It seriously looked like Cro Cops neck was broken at first, I was worried for his safety!

and i agree with you, cbear.
the only possible thing i can see now is a cro-cop arlovski fight so if cro-cop wins, he gets back in huge with the fans..if not, it pushes arlovski right back into the mix of things and makes him #1 contender.
but after this loss does cro-cop deserve a match with arlovski?
and was it just mirko getting caught? the round was almost over.
and what does this do for the parity between prides HWs and UFCs HWs that we've been arguing about for years?
so many questions!

This win doesn't bother me...Gonzaga is a good fighter and I think Crocop has lost his fire...
GSP and Diego losing were a lot worse to me...
Crocop will bounce back if he wants but he doesn't seem that passionate right now and losing this way isn't going to help that I imagine

I wondered the same thing in Crocops debut vs whatshisname. I expected total destruction in under a minute but Crocop had to chase him around and even landed the LHK which didn't decapitate the jobber. I wondered then if we were seeing Crocop-lite. He was so dominant in the Pride GP and now seems like he has half the motivation. Could the jump have been that detrimental on him?

wow this makes me kinda mad
im not having anyone over my house to watch it anymore lol
In todays issue of many Croatian newspapers Cro Cop said he is sick of everything, training, travelling, fighting. He also said every next fight could be his last. I am affraid this could be The end.
On the other hand, we Croatians are stubborn as an oxe. This could also be his motivator for another climbing from the bottom, but for the first time in last 10 years, I seriously doubt!

He also recently said he wasn't going to stay in politics anymore. It does appear that he has been burning the candle at both ends and doing way too much for the last couple of years. When that happens, people often say "screw it" and just walk away. Sometimes they rest, recharge and come back and sometimes they don't. I'd hate to see Crocop walk away but he really could stand to cut out at least half the activity in his life and just relax more. Facially, he has aged alot in the last 2 years and thats due to overwork and stress.

**** I feel so bad. this sucks... crocop by a head kick. what the **** is happening to mma...o my god. etc,etc,etc... I honestly feel really bad. I wanted to see crocop fight randy, or see werdum beat arlovski, but I was wrong.
are pride fighters overrated? is fedor even that bad? I dont know what to think! If the lower level UFC fighters are the best in the world then I dont know what to think.. Im going crazy!
some body please tell me where I can watch this
That head kick was sick, gotta give Gonzaga his props. The man came to fight. I don't think Cro Cop threw a single strike in like 4 mins of standup.
With that said, I truly think a big difference in whether a PRIDE fighter will do well in the UFC (and vice versa) is how well they adjust to the new battleground.
It's foreign to them and I would think plays on their mind a little.
That is, unless you're Fedor.
Oh, and F*CK these upsets dammit !

i think mirkos only true motivation is fedor, hunt and nog. maybe even now gonzaga..
but i dunno, id like to see mirko just relax a while. take some time off, he's been fighting every 3-4 months for a long time and he has looked nothing like the GP winner we saw last year.
if dana can somehow lock fedor up in a contract, i can see mirko motivating himself with the chance he can fight him, but after today it just doesnt seem like he cares.
I`ve just got back from UFC 70, It was a good night, the undercard fights were all really good. The Main fights were ok, Bisping was great. Gonzaga`s KO kick was stunning. From the start of the fight Cro Cop didnt seem himself and he sounded really dejected in the interview after. When Joe asked him what was next he said that he didnt know and it was too early to say for sure.

This finally exposes the myth that PRIDE was superior to UFC. PRIDE was full of nothing but cans and hyped up wannabe's.
I guess we finally settled the debate from all these years!! w00t!
Here's my remembrance of the fight.
Gabe keeps circling away from Mirko's left, throwing the occasional punch. Mirko circles with him throwing nothing. Gabe lands a leg kick. More circling. Mirko attempts a bodykick, Gabe catches it and scores a takedown. Mirko closes his guard. Gabe at a fairly steady rate is able to land elbows, possibly even cutting Mirko as I remember some blood. Ref thinks Gabe is too inactive and stands the fight up. More circling and then Gabe throws the right highkick, Mirko attempts to block it, but his hands are too low. Brutal kayo and his right ankle folds something awful. Gabe lands a ground punch for good measure. Mirko is out for awhile, jaw clenched tight on his mouthguard.
Mirko seems to need a beating to keep his head out of the clouds.

IF mma is like this then this sucks. what the hell is crocops problem? he showed he is an awesome fighter in the GP, but this is ****nig rediculous. he has fought ernesto hoost, fedor, nog, barnett, etc, and he gets ko'd by a guy who had one of the most boring fights in UFC history/mma history.

It was a different Gonzaga tonight. He was focused and looked like he wanted it a hell of a lot more than Cro Cop did.
You can say what you will about Gonzaga, but the guy has brutal strikes and anyone that's disinterested in the fight enough to get hit by one is in serious trouble.

Based on that performance, I say that Dos Caras Jr should demand a rematch.

Come on now, it wasn't like that. Give Gonzaga credit, he circled exactly like he had to. He was very active with his jabs, kicks and punches while he circled. Then he caught a good middle kick and took him down and beat his ass. Then stood up and knocked him out. Mirko wasn't ABLE to do anything in that fight.

Mirko will have to wait. Dos Caras Jr is on a collision course with Johnny Morton!
Mirko seems to need a beating to keep his head out of the clouds.
LOL, sounds funny but I think you just hit the point!
This can end only with:
a) This was Mirkos last fight and he retires
b) he comes back much more focused and tries to climb up again to the title fight, just like he did after Randleman
Another funny thing is that anything conected with movie industry is kind of kryptonite for him. Before Randleman loss he was making his awfull movie and before this fight he was wasting his time with Van Damme.
