Hopefully Boetsch had time to put in some cardio work.
If history is any indicator ... Karo will win this and his next few fights only to lose once he is in title contention or comes across an untimely injury.
Still rooting for him, however ...

Yeah, Karo, I dunno he didn't look that good to me in his fight against Burkman or Chonan, and of course against Alves, almost like he has become complaciant. But your right, he does tend to streak, and either get hurt or lose on the one that matters.
As for the Tim Boe fight, I dunno that that excites me either, after Timmy boy got abused by Hamil and ran out of gas, and the only time I have seen Lee his was getting punched out by Sakara hopefully they both put on a better show.

I agree 100%. I think Yosh is the most underrated WW in the UFC right now.

agreed. very talented fighter, and definitely a tough matchup for karo. hopefully 'the heat' will take it, but i see yoshida giving him problems. this fight is definitely going to decision, imo.
mrboxergrappler, i have to disagree about your assessment of karo in the burkman fight. the others you mentioned, yeah, he looked complacent. but against burkman, he looked sharp with his takedowns, and especially with his standup. that was a helluva fight, and he showed much improved striking.

Karo is gonna maul Yoshida, i'm glad that he is training with a new camp and sounds angry and motivated again the guy is his own worst enemy sometimes.

How do you figure he'll maul someone who has better standup, and a grappling game that isn't as good - but good enough to neautralize Karos?
I like Yoshida vs. Karo, but to me it sounds like it'll just be a 3-rounds stalemate, like his fight against Chonan.

It really depends on how much Karo is actually preparing for fights nowadays...He was talking about how he wasn't training at all and didn't give a **** about winning.
If he took Yoshida lightly he may be dealt his 2nd straight loss but I'm expecting to see a good comeback fight for the 25 year old who holds 7 big UFC wins under his belt.
Yoshida came into his UFC debut in great shape

With these two fights plus the hendo fight and the chuck vs. Rashad fight, this is shaping up to be a descent card IMO. It could be the worst card ever and I would still not miss going to the event though. Hopefully they will add some more fights that are as solid as these.

I like Boetsch and he was doing pretty well against Hamill until he gassed. He busted matts face open like Mrs. Couture.
As for Karo, he has become too whiney and I just want to see him beaten again so he can piss and moan about it.

Karo has to win this fight. If he doesn't then he can no longer say that he has the best Judo in MMA. (His Judo is actually not the best in MMA but the UFC fans and guys who know about his Judo for MMA instructional DVD have been brainwashed by Rogan into thinking so).

i definitely agree that he doesn't have the best judo in mma (nak, yoshida, akiyama, dong, etc.), although i do tend to think that he uses it the most effectively. without a gi, the aforementioned judokas seem a bit lost sometimes.
but unquestionably, in a straight judo match, karo would get fuccking pwned.

Even in a MMA match I don't think his Judo is the best. It's very good and up there but the way Rogan and Noobs talk you would think that it is far above everyone else and that's simply not true.
What it really comes down to is two things.
1. Rogan always is saying how Karo has the best Judo in MMA and has an oragasm anytime Karo does a Judo throw. When guys like Nakamura, Akiyama, Dong Sik, Takimoto, or Hidehiko Yoshida do a throw, the Pride announcers whether it be Bas, Quadros or Raunollo never make a big deal about it so you don't notice it as much.
2. Everyone knows that Karo has the Judo for MMA instrutional DVD and book, so somehow that makes Karo the best Judo in MMA.
Having said that if he loses to Yoshida then it hurts Karo alot because then he will no longer have the best Judo in MMA which will problaby hurt his book and DVD sales. That's why it's very important for him to win this bout even though it's not like this Yoshida is the best judo in MMA either.

Bas, Quadros, or Mauro never get too animated, or crazy, though. If Rogan was calling those same matches with the fighters you've mentioned, I'd assume he'd flip out the same way.

I disagree. I think he DOES have the best judo of any UFC WW (maybe not the best in mma - I'd probably give that to Nastula).
However, I don't think Karo's judo is heads and shoulders above Yoshida's where it would need to be to be a significant advantage.
Karo is world-class in judo and actually has adapted it VERY well to mma. So while it's the "mainstream" thing to do - I'd actually give him a nod as the best judo guy in the WW division (over Yosh)

Yeah that's my point though. Alot of the UFC fans (who don't watch anything outside of UFC) or noobs will hear Rogan, find out about the instructional DVD and Book and just assume he is God and better at MMA judo then everyone else.
Rogan doesn't help this by not mentioning guys like Yoshida, Nakamura, Akiyama, Dong Sik, Takimoto etc and saying they are on par.

I agree Rogan overrates Karo and makes him seem like the next coming of Christ (mostly because Karo (used to?) teaches at the gym Rogan goes to). However, just because Rogan sucks the Armenian off of Karo's nuts everytime Karo tries a throw - doesn't mean that he isn't right with his basic point. Karo is a stud judoka - with or without a gi.

Karo's Judo for MMA is very good no doubt but alot of people (Rogan leading) seem to think Karo invented Judo for MMA and is easily best in the World at it.

Hmm. Didn't know that. That would explain alot though of why Rogan goes off like he does with the Judo throws.
Again, not trying to diminish Karo at all, but trying to put Karo's judo for MMA in a more realisitc perspective.

He's not the best judoka in the world, obviously. But uttering his name along with the best in the world is NOT out of the realm of possibility.
And all of the guys you mentioned are equally world class with Karo - but I wouldn't necessarily rank them above Karo. People forget (or just didn't know) that before he went MMA full time - Karo was a world class judoka who competed at the international level with some good degrees of success. I knew about him before I really got into mma.

Of course Rogan will call Karo the best, he fights in the UFC. Why would he say Yoshida is the best? Karo might not be the best, but I could care less who Rogan says. Each org will promote their guys. For what its worth Yoshida may be a better Judo guy than Karo, but Karo uses his Judo better in MMA than Yoshida.

I have no problem with saying his judo is world class.
but what Rogan and alot of Noobs are always saying are how Karo's Judo for MMA is by far much better than the rest of the guys. That's simply not true from what I have seen.

No but theyve kissed up to other Pride fighters the same way Rogan does. Like I said, each org will try to promote its guys as the best. Why should the UFC go on and on at how someone like Yoshida is the best Judoka in MMA? Sure, they can reference him as one of the best but not keep pushing it.

Rogan never even mention Yoshida or the other judoka's at all. So there is no referencing.
With Strikers and BJJ guys Rogan will usually at least acknowledge that there are better guys or guys on the same level out there. He's not gonna say that Arlovski is the best striker in the World or Randy Couture has the best GnP in the World.
It's highly biased towards Karo. But as Bulldog mentioned Rogan trains or has trained with Karo so now it makes sense why he would say that.

Ignoring all of the commentator nuthuggery or lack thereof - I think I would put Karo above Yoshida in how he has implemented his judo to mma. However, Yoshida is definitely the more accomplished judoka. However, you could argue that Karo's class is a bit more competitive than Yoshida's - which now puts everything in a weirdass arguement.
In anycase, Nastula is above both of these guys.

The difference is, while Rogan may be biased, he has someone in the UFC who can legitimately be called the best judo guy in mma (granted, with some arguement). Calling Arlovski the best striker or Couture the best GNPer will be laughed upon. Saying Karo is the best judoka in mma, while argueable, is not a laughable statement and is pretty accurate.
But like I said, we're going off on a tangent here. What Rogan thinks has NOTHING to do with the original conversation which is that while Karo has excellent judo - his game isn't good enough to where another top level judoka won't be able to nullify it.

Considering how Dana has treated guys like Barnett and Lindland I wouldn't be so sure, Dana can hold a grudge and if a top fighter leaves over money he could very well end up blackballed out of the UFC. I really hope these fighters stop listening to their agents and letting dollar signs affect what is best for their careers in the long term. If you get blackballed out of the UFC and are a top fighter you can end up like Frank Shamrock out of the spotlight and missing out on millions.
And as far as my second statement was I actually saying that they'd be stupid to leave the UFC because they'd get blackballed out of the UFC like Barnett and Lindland.
So if you are gonna accuse someone of making idotic statements at least get them right.
Nog has Mir outskllled in both striking and submissions. Mir is done on the ground and done on his feet.
You guys don't even know Mir's special move.
Wait til you see him press on his hams, causing his knee cap to fly off and blast Nog in his good eye. Then all he has to do is detach the remaining portion of his leg and beat Nog down with it.
You guys don't even know !!!!!!!!!!!!
