Yoshida proved last night that he was the real deal. If there was a true star at Final Conflict it was him. Not Silva, not Nog, not even Sakuraba, but Hidehiko Yoshida. The man showed tremendous heart that I haven't seen in the longest time.
I tip my hat to the great Hidehiko Yoshida....

I totally agree, Yoshida and Henderson were the stars, nobody knocks out Bustamante in 53 seconds...
That was awesome!

I totally agree. Although I was one of the few who always respected Yoshida and never underedtimated him, last night's performance gained even more of my respect. Anybody who ever calls Yoshida a "nobody" or a "tomato can" again is just plain ignorant.

Yoshida had some of my respect but not my complete respect until he fought wandy. Yoshida is the real deal folks

I respect Yoshida a whole hell of a lot for this performance. A little more training and he could be a serious threat in the HW division.

Yoshida earned my respect after his incredibly impressive performance against Silva. This proves that NONE of Yoshida's matches have been worked. I still can't believe people so doubted a two time world champion and olympic champion in Judo.
Yoshida did earn my respect, however, I don't see him being a champion with the strikers at 205.
Yoshida is great at getting in the clinch and doing that great hip throw, and we know how dangerous he is at submissions....however
the fighter that most impressed me in that fight, was Silva. We all have seen him strike, but he looked like every other Brazillian on the ground-comfortable.I mean, Silva almost triangled Yoshida-now that is impressive.

remember that Yoshida's natural weight is 220. He's a heavyweight not a light heavyweight.
what more can be said other than that Yoshida's the man!

Yoshida showed us that indomitable Asian spirit. That was an amazing cut he had inside his mouth. At first I thought it was internal bleeding.

I never underestimated Yoshida in the first place and agree about the respect. With his performance, he definately gets my respect here. Win, Lose, or Draw, Yoshida got game!

don't worry we still love you!
I will now sing a song to the great yoshida: "Yoshida, Yoshida you are the greatest, oh Yoshida!"
Well, let there be no doubt that the official "Jump on Yoshidas bandwagon" game has begun. Just kidding, this board has been more tuned in to Yoshidas skill and legit wins than anywhere else.
What impressed me most about Yoshidas performance was his aggressiveness and toughness. Detractors have really hounded him as not wanting to take a punch and being an easy knockout. Well, he ate alot of strikes, bled all over the place and never slowed down. In fact, he traded strikes with Silva at one point and he isn't a striker! He must have been pissed off at that point to start trading fists. My hat is off to his perfomance and he is my MVP of the entire show. He may have lost, but his stock has risen greatly by his tremendous performance.
The only bad thing about Yosh is that he has taken hard punishment on his legs from a career in Judo and isn't a young kid starting out. I don't see him having a long career in MMA because of that. But, it is going to be great watching him go as long as he can. And finally, everyone thinks Silva has a scary stare down before the fight, what about Yosh? He looks like a badass Mathematics professor about to hand you an F and boot you out of class. :D

He has my full respect....and as I have said in a couple of other threads..he is my new hero. The guy is the very poster child of what MMA fighters should be. He may have lost the decsion but he won the battle he was fighting. He shut alot of people up that thought he would get knocked out early...(including myself)..and he did it FIGHTING..he didn't sit back and protect himself...he was swinging like a mofo at one of the best strikers in the game.
Yoshida is a class act and is now one of my favorite fighters.I can't wait to see him fight again.

yoshida was the biggest star(among many) that night. he showed he has quite a chin and improved big time since his last fight agianst tamura. look for him to be a force at 205.
as for his natural 220 weight, there's a lot of unnessery weight there. 205 is a perfect weight to fight at.
Seeing Nog and Yosh take a pounding and fight like hell really made the Bobish fight look that much crappier. An eye injury is scary so I dont want to say too much about it, but dang that was a fast quit for a big old boy like Bobish.

Bobbish showed that he has no heart in the ring.
He should take a lesson from Saku who continued to fight the most dangerous striker in the world with a borken eye orbital.
