Monday's press conference with Vanderlei Silva in Tokyo had some news. Silva wants to do a unification fight with Randy Couture in the future. Odds of that fight are strongest for PRIDE's March show in Las Vegas.

Silva told the press that he was so tired that he just went back to his hotel room and slept (rather than partying the night away). Silva said that he was both physically and mentally fatigued from his two fights (against Hidehiko Yoshida & Quinton Jackson), but that Yoshida deserved special praise because Yoshida didn't fear his blows at all and had a big heart.

Silva said that he thinks that he will eventually work as a heavyweight in fights. Silva told the press that if promoters approached him with a re-match against Yoshida, he would take it instantly. Silva vs. Yoshida is the best bet for the main event for PRIDE's 12/31 Saitama Super Arena show. PRIDE announced that their Heavyweight GP tournament would start in Spring '04.

I don't see why Silva wants to move up to heavyweight. He's dominant in the Middleweight division and his best chance to be even more dominat is right at 205.

the natural vs the axe murderer? Let's get it on baby!!!

Wanderlei vs Randy would be a dream middleweight match! When it comes to 205 there is a HUGE gap between the top two positions and the rest of the field. These two need to throw it down to decide who is truly the best light heavyweight fighter in the world.

If the fight will happen sometime next year and odds are 100 to win 100, I'll bet $1000.00 on Randy again.

I would bet on Randy as well.

this would be a tough one for me. Personally, I think I'd pick Wanderlei Silva because Cuture has never met such a complete fighter, but it definitely wouldn't be by a large margin. I would never bet money on this fight; it's too damn close.
