Mirko (without question he must be there)
Fedor (without question he must be there)
Nogueira (without question he must be there)
W. Silva (how awesome would that be? And yes he could win it too!)
Ricco (deserves a shot at redemption after the Nogueira fiasco)
T. Silvia (would be a true test of the UFC vs. PRIDE)
Igor V (he's an exciting fighter capable of an upset)
Fujita (he proved he's worthy in his Fedor and Mirko fights)

Great post Tony, I have been thinking the same thing. Here are my fantasy picks.

Mirco- no 1 striker
Fedor- no 2 striker
Nog- no 1 subs
Fujita- iron head and hometown crowd draw
Mir- good subs
Sylvia- was champ though Im not big on him
Ricco- a putz, but hes good and maybe Mirco will KO
Coleman- my wild card who isnt on either team. His neck is better and he still can roll.
Barnett as wild card no 2 in place of Fujita, but Pride needs a hometown draw. Rather see Barnett than Sylvia or Mir actually....

My gut tells me that Mirco or Nog wins it all.

for an alternate match I'd have Mir vs Coleman.

Fedor (doesn't need an explanation)
Mirko (arguably the most entertaining HW, always dangerous)
Nogueira (Former HW champ, awesome fight against Mirko)
W. Silva (current Middle Weight Champ)
Coleman (defending champ)
T. Silvia (UFC questionable heavyweight champion should be there)
Igor V (one of the toughest, always entertaining)
Kerr (sounds stupid, but after watching smashing machine, he's got to be there, but he probabely won't, i guess i am just hoping)

There's no date set. Probably in the spring or early summer.

You gotta give Heath Herring a shot at the Heavyweight Tourney...he's got game. Don't forget he's just 25 and has a lot of skill.

After hearing about Heath Herring's atrocious performance at Final Conflict, I don't think he really deserves a spot. It really seems as though Heath has lost that fire he once had.

The dang PPV rebroadcast of Final Conflict didn't have the Herring fight.

He admitted in his interview he hasn't fought in 7 months and was tentative. He definitely needs to get back in to form. That's talent wasted if he doesn't get in the groove.

Remember the fight against Nog?!? That fight was insane! He showed a lot of heart and showed great submission offense/defense.

Herring's knees from the sidemount were vicious on opponents back in the day! I remember when people were trying to copy him.

C'mon...the dude's hair is cool as sh*t too.

1 Mirko
2 Nog
3 Fedor

Those are the totally obvious ones.

After that I think the most dangerous guys are:

4 Coleman
5 Rodriguez
6 Barnett
7 Sylvia

As for #8 it could be a lot of guys. Take your pick. None of them would win.

Rizzo,Mir,Fujita,Arlovski,Herring,W Silva.

Force, as far as the lower tier guys not winning the tourney you might be right (though anything can happen). However, any of them could play a spoiler role whereby they wage a war with one of the favorites wearing them down and making them ripe to lose in the finals especially if fought on same night like the GP was. I could easily see any of the lower end guys giving much more of a fight to the favorites than they want to be in. This could also result in final matches being slow as energy is wiped out. These guys carry more weight to gas them out than the lighter weights.

I just hope that Silva doesn't go up in weight to fight, because Sak has already challenged to do the same for another shot at him. UGH.... Yoshida moving up holds more interest for me than Silva doing so.

Yeah I know what you mean Cbear. There is always the chance of one of those guys inflicting damage or wearing someone out but I just don't see anyone other than one of the top 5-6 guys winning. Anything can happen but I would be absolutely shocked if Rizzo, Mir, Syvia, Fujita or Arlovski could take the tourney. Fedor, Nog, Mirko, Coleman, Barnett are just too strong, one of those guys will be at the top of their game and take the tourney.
