Ok. This Damon "the Dog" Perry is TERRIBLE!!!!

What happened to the "Fight Professor?"

Damon has no idea what the heck he is talking about and lends absolutely no insight into the fight. The only thing he can do is gush about the sport
and ride Bas's comments.

Bas is the color commentator...he shouldn't be relied upon to be the "straight" commentary guy also.

Damon....YOU ARE AWFUL! Commentate on Badminton or something. Leave PRIDE!!!!

I agree. I hate Damon Perry because he has no knowledge of MMA whatsoever. Quadros was literally a textbook on MMA. He knew what a triangle choke, omo plata, rear naked choke, and kimura are. Perry doesn't know what any of them are.

I dislike him less this time than last time. The 1st event he wouldn't shut the #)*(! up. This time he chattered less, but still too much. I agree with ya that he doesn't seem to know the sport, which is lame. I didn't mind the Fight Professor cuz he knew what was going on and his humor matched much better with Rutten's. When the Professor knew something, Bas could relax more, joke more, and talk about his experience in training and in the ring, which the Professor possessed less of, and which I particularly appreciate hearing about. What a team they were! But, to be nice, maybe the new guy just needs to relax more or figure how he and Bas work best together or something. I liked Jeff Blatnik, in the early UFCs. Quiet, but knew what was going on as far as the techniques and as far as competing. I don't care about the paperatzie (sp.) stuff myself.

I totally agree! I was about to start my own post today on this topic. Damon "doggy" Perry has GOT TO GO!!! He's the master of run on sentences. He says **** like....

"so Bas, who do you think is winning the fight right now, not in terms of scoring necessarily, but in terms of who is fighting better, I mean their style of fighting, who is winning?"

Or at the very end he seemed to ask Couture something like....

"So, the natural heavyweights, we've got all these great fighters here Cro Cop, Nogueira, Fedor, who is next for the natural"?

Huh? Shut the hell up! We need a new PRIDE announcer badly!

Finally another legit topic on getting Quadros back!

This Damon Perry guy is seriously ****. When watching any kind of sport you usually want a commentator who knows the sport and what's going on in the sport. Perry is just some radio DJ who was sent in for his speaking skills. The guy knows ****-all about MMA.

I hope to God that Quadros comes back but likely I'm guessing he won't. Why was he fired in the place?

I actually had the chance to meet Stephen Quadros and chat with him briefly yesterday at Dragonfest in LA. He's pretty upset about the whole Pride thing and hasn't watched the shows since he was let go. He said if people want him back they need to get proactive about it -- sign your name on the petitions that are out there (I don't have the links, sorry) and let DSE know what your feelings are. He seemed like a very cool guy, told us some good stories and was quite friendly, but definitely felt that DSE had made a bad decision letting him go and hiring Perry and I have to say that I agree.

I still have a penchant for staying 'busy'. Today, I JUST
finished working as an actor on the hot new TV show called
"Karen Sisco". I play a DEA agent. I'm not exactly sure when
the episode will air but it is titled "He Was A Friend of Mine".

Then I'm going to the Carribean to work (as actor and fight
choreographer) on "Legend of Pit Fighter". That film is going
to rock! It will be out next year.

There was no "reason" given to me for the move: I did not
ask for more money, I had great chemistry with Bas (Hello!),
I had a good rapport with the Japanese producer.Â*Â*I am liked
and respected by all the fighters and (need I point out the
obvious)...I looked good on camera and actually know a "little"
about the subject, MMA (snicker). The American producer Bas
& I had worked with for 3 years left after the first Pride show
this year ("Body Blow") and was replaced by a guy from Detroit
named Jerry Millen.Â*Â*Shortly after that occured I was fired (a
DSE USA empolyee told me "we're going to 'try' another
commentator...") and replaced by another guy from Detroit
named Damon Parry. What...ever...

They screwed up and at this point I think they know it, even
though their "pride" probably won't ever allow them to admit
it.Â*Â*It's so blatantly OBVIOUS that this wasn't a real great idea
(I'm just the master of understatement, aren't I?).Â*Â*I guess the
key word here is "duh".

I have heard MANY of these type comments since I left.
But, I have not watched Pride since my departure so I have no
comment about the guy.Â*Â*But what they did to me was wrong.
I was a great soldier for the company. My talents were taken
for granted and wasted by bad decision making. It also sends
a strange message about company loyalty (or lack thereof) and
respect (or lack thereof).

Chick Hearn was the play by play commentator for the LA
Lakers for over 40 years. Howard Cosell was the voice of ABC
Sports for 39 years. I just wish that I had been afforded such
loyalty. Someday...

In the meantime, I don't mind sitting on the bench for a bit
until an intelligent organization picks me up. Just call me the
John Gruden of MMA. LOL!

If only it was up to me. As you can probably figure out I did
not fire myself so it would be difficult to re-hire myself. Pride
has some great matches and I seemed to be a perfect fit. I
wonder how the people who decided to convince their bosses
that I should be fired would feel if they were relieved of their
positions. That is something to ponder...

I miss the fighters, I miss Bas and all my friends with DSE who
reside IN JAPAN (never had a problem with any of them who

website. I have received many e-mails from people who tell
me they, the PrideFC website, are ignoring or sidestepping the
issue when it is brought up to them. The people who run that

DreamStage IN JAPAN directly.

Major blunder IMO. We're trying to promote Pride in the US more than ever and the kickass frontmen (Bas and Quadros) are busted up. I'm a hardcore fan and I had trouble following the last Pride at times because of the lame comments that you just can't escape. I actually thought for a second that if a Pride came along that was so-so, I might not order it if I have to listen to crap the entire time, which is crazy cuz I see them ALL. So how much worse is it for the new fan checking it out in the US. Probably worse. It does seem like we need to try to get ahold of Pride IN JAPAN, because what's Pride in the US without Pride in Japan. Maybe DSE would listen if the US promoters aren't. Maybe.
