I know its the worlds most popular sport. And fans get so excited they riot or stampede; what would a big match be without 20 deaths? :(

However, its appeal eludes me. Nothing about it excites me in the least. I guess its being raised in the football and baseball generation in the U.S. before soccor was pushed in schools to gain popularity.

I suspect our members in South America will think I'm nuts for not liking soccor

I don't mind it. I watched all of Korea's games during the 2002 World Cup. They were such a tremendous cinderella story that I was cheering for them to go all the way. The Korean fans were absolutely nuts I recall.

I guess for me it all comes down to what level of Soccer it is. If it's at a professional and International level such as the World Cup, I enjoy it. If it's league soccer with different clubs, I can't stand it.

Soccer is ok but it's still not exactly my cup of tea.

the best part of watching Soccer is listening to the announcers say "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOALLLLLL!"

I cheer for the Italy (my parent's heritage) in every World Cup and European Cup. So I just wanted to say Korea was both lucky on the field and with the referees. There were some very questionable calls in their Italy and Spain game which helped them win those two games.

Word-for-word...my thoughts exactly.

I suspect it's popular because it's neither complicated nor equipment intensive i.e. cheap and easy to play. Hell, imo it's only one step above "Kick the Can".

I don't mind soccer but like lots here I think it's boring as hell to watch on TV. International soccer seems like all the players do is pass forward than pass backwards, pass forwards then backwards, forwards then backwards, etc

i hate soccer too. you see hundreds of thousands of fans even in the upperdecks, but why? The field is so big and theball is so small. The upperdeck people can't even remotely see!

you guys don't know what you're talking about. Soccer is the best and here's why

1. Possibly the best athletes in the world. They have to last out running on a huge field for 90 straight minutes and pour their heart out for their team. Their athleticism is unparralelled.

2.Amnazing plays. In no other sport, I don't care if it's hockey, basketball, baseball, or football, have I seen so many great plays. IS anything better to watch that to see a someone with a picture perfect bicycle kick for a goal? I didn't think so.

3.The global aspect. Fans go wild at soccer and that type of reaction is unmatches in any other sport.
