I agree that a case can be made for Yoshida winning the fight against Silva, but had he been given the decision and moved on to face Rampage, he would have been destroyed. Not because of his fighting skill, but because he was literally dead after his fight with Silva. I mean did you see the crimson mask he was wearing?

That is true.... but put aside the fact that he was bleedin'..... he is a better fighter then Jacksson. If they fight in the future id go for Yoshida no doubt!

Yoshida proved he was a great fighter at Final Conflict but it's questionable that he's better than jackson. It would for sure be a fight I'd like to see though.

part of the judging criteria in pride is damage points. and attempts to finish. silva came very close in the first round to getting a triangle choke on yoshida and i did not see where any of yoshida's attempted submissions came even close. vanderlei was striking from the bottom and working for submissions from his guard. then round 2 could easily go to vanderlei judging by the damage he dished out. at the end of the fight vanderlei looked like he had never been in a fight other then the sweat. on the other hand yoshida was beaten up.

perfectly put sabre. i think silva won hands down . yosh did better than expected, but silva was the aggresser and did the damage. too many personal feelings and silva haters made it a closer fight than it was.

Silva won the fight although a strong case could have been made for Yoshida. I think DSE doesn't want to get into any more controversy so their judges were more biased towards Silva this time.

I would have gave it to Silva because I wanted to see Silva fight Rampage or Chuck in the finals. After that performance though, Yoshida has become my favorite fighter. Just look at the avatar!

Oh, yeah. That's another interesting fight. I've seen it two weeks after it happened and was following the threads saying that Ricco was ripped off on that fight. I looked at it closely, biased, actually, in favor of Ricco.
And to tell you the truth, after watching the tape, I also think Nog won that fight. As I said on my previous life on this board: "May be it has something to to with my BJJ background, when you know that you can be dominated by a fighter when you're on top, being on top doesn't mean that you're controlling the fight and attempting to win it".
These are just my devaluated cents anyway, enough was said about that fight.

Nogueira did not win that fight. Granted, Nog works extremely well from the bottom, but that's exactly where Ricco wanted Nog. Ricco pounded Nog from the top and escaped every single submission attempt.

That's exactly my point: the only thing he actually did was try to escape from the submission attempts, we was being attacked and was not the aggressor. But then again, that's just me. :D

Of course I take the fact that I'm Brazillian into consideration...all the time. :lol:
But no, that's my honest oppinion, no matter what. I'm naturally racional and not too much emotional when it comes to fight results, period.

Of course the mirror image argument could hold, right ? That always happens when you put too much stress on someone else ethnic background, country of origin etc. I personally prefer Isaac Asimov attitude: "I refused to be more sharply defined than a human being" (or something like that :D ).
