I know this would never happen but the idiots over at "suredog" are running a discussion on this. What is even funnier is that a lot of them think Tito Oriz could win. THey are saying that Mirko has horrible takedown defense and that Tito's takedowns are light years ahead of Nog's.
This just infuriated me!
I for one think that Mirko would probably decapitate Tito.
Yes, Tito can beat Mirko, and Chuck can beat Fedor, and Tank can submit Nog(maybe with triangle choke). Hell I can beat Mirko and Fedor together! What a weard world would that be.

Well, I would pick Mirko in this fight, but if it happened in the UFC, Tito has a chance..
If Tito got Mirko down I think he would GnP him to a win, if it stayed up, I think Mirko gets him.

This is laughable thinking that Ortiz would have any shot whatsoever. This is like matching up Fedor and Chuck Liddell.
Cro Cop by early first round K0.

Mirko has been fed easy marks, sure he disposed of Heath quickly, but everything else has been pretty much set up..
Igor was just going to stand in front of him and no need to mention the pro wrestler he fought. But if Sak could take him down and Nog got him down and submitted him, it's not out of this world to think Tito could get him down. Tito is stronger than Sak man!!!
And if Tito gets him down, Mirko would see a GnP he hasn't seen before.

sure dogofwar sure.....
Ortiz would get murdered.

This fight is ridiculous. Mirko is bigger and much better. Tito has never faced a fighter who is even close to as good as Mirko when it comes to striking. Mirko on the other hand has faced a fighter as good at takedowns as Tito. Mirko would dominate this fight in convincing fashion.

Mirko/Silva sure looked the same and Mirko was very nervous about being in the ring w/ Silva, an Ortiz victim, so again I'll stress for the mentally challenged..
Tito would try to get Mirko down, seeing that Silva, Sak, Tadaka, and Nog all got him down, I would think Tito has a shot to. If he gets him down, he has a chance to win. Period.
Tito floats around 220 lbs, Mirko is not bigger, they would be about the same. Tito wouldn't cut weight for the fight.

Ortiz would probably lose, but you guys are underestimating him...
If Mirko gets taken down, then Ortiz has a very good chance at taking this...
And it's not impossible to take Mirko down.

I know i'll get a lot of flack for this, but I say Tito would stand a good chance at beating Cro Cop. First of all Tito is good at takedowns. If Nog could get him down, no doubt Tito can. Also, if standing Tito is up there with the best of them in the clinch. Plus Tito is a big light heavy so it shouldnt be much weight advantage for Cro Cop. Sure Tito did get spanked by Randy and was dodging Chuck, but he is still a top notch fighter. Grant it Cro Cop has an amazing future and is the most entertaining fighter at the moment, he still needs work on the ground. I say this fight could go either way.

Its not too far fetched for Tito to take Mirko down. Mirko is no Randy Couture after all. Tito couldn't take Randy down because Randy did everything right to defend it...he is a wrestler after all.
Mirko got taken down suprisingly easy against Nog...and I thought Mirko looked unsure of himself when he was on his back. Mirko didn't look like he knew what to do. If Tito could get him on his back....I think Tito would have a very good chance of beating Mirko. Probably would end up being a ref stoppage.
If they stay standing...lights out Tito.
well, i actually agree with dogofwars' first post(dow, you followed up SO nicely with stats and past fights(mirko vs silva)(tito walking at 220)....
but then you kind of went another direction and had to call someone out, when actually, you were the one that stated your oppinion, and then stated facts, while he just stated an oppinion with no facts.
basically, i think this wouldn't be that bad of a match to see, for one, mirko could kick tito's head off, two, tito could make it an interesting fight by trying to keep mirko down, which could still be close.
i think tito would stand a chance, i mean, i would say that tito is experienced to know what no to do(stand) with mirko.
i do respect mirkos skills, but his ground skills-(?)-i don't know if he has them.
this fight to me, could be totally one-sided, or a close match.which way it'd go, i have no idea, nor do i think we will ever find out.

Does Tito Ortiz stand a chance? Yes
Does Tito stand a good chance? No
Would Tito Win? No
Would Tito Lose? Yes
Mirko by high kick knockout in the first round.

There are so many posters on this forum that are so quick to diss UFC fighter and so quick to hail all PRIDE fighters.
Tito lost to a superior wrestler in Couture. But make no mistake that Tito is likely the second best wrestler in the world, heavyweights included. Wrestling has the ability to neutralize strikers. It ain't pretty or exciting but it's true.
That said, Mirko is always constantly improving and has incredible strength. Tito could win by decision, but would never win by TKO or submission. Mirko on the other hand can win by KO at any time in the fight.
I'd say Mirko's the 2-1 favorite, but it's not ludacris to believe Tito has a real chance.

did you say that Tito's the second best wrestler in the world? No offense, but that's one of the most ridiculous statements I've read in awhile. Coleman, Fujita, Randleman, Randy and Sakuraba are all better "wrestlers" than Tito Ortiz. Their credentials prove it.

I'm not going to totally discount Ortiz in this fight, but I honestly don't see Tito being able to win this one at all. Filipovic is just too good for Tito to contend with.

I think everyone agrees that Mirko would and should be the favorite, but some are saying that Tito has no chance is outlandish.

obviously tito stands a chance as does any top level fighter in MMA against anyone, but if you were smart obviously you would choose Mirko. The guy's a machine and he'll knock Tito out easily with one punch or kick because that's all it takes for him.

Most ridiculous statement.....???
Coleman - too old, gasses way too quickly
Randleman - give me a break. did you see the pathetic display of GnP he tried with Sakuraba? he was completely ineffective.
Randy - yes, he's #1, did you not read my post?
Sakuraba - no way. maybe 5 years ago. but Tito simply out-powers him now. Sakuraba could win the fight by submission no doubt. But in a pure wrestling match I'd give Tito the edge.
Is it debateable? Yes. But to believe Tito is #2 is completely reasonable. For you to accuse me of being "ridiculous" is infact ridiculous in itself. There are way too many people on this site that are so quick to accuse someone of being crazy, or ridiculous, or stupid. You should think twice before you make an insulting statement like that.
