Anybody else see this? It was quite shocking.

Spinks won a majority decision over Mayorga.

wasn't Mayorga one of the best P4P boxers in the world before this?

he was ranked in the pfp list because of his wins over vernon forest. many experts didnt put him in their list. i thought he was good, but also saw many weaknesses. he's a great brawler, but a poor boxer.vernon forest just happened to fight mayorga's fight when he lost.even spinks's half assed boxing skills were too much for the smokin nicaraguan. guys like mosely and oscar would whoop both sphinks and mayorga

I thought Spinks was great. He was smooth and even though Mayorga talked about his dead mother and fought a dirty fight, Spinks never got rattled..

I was very impressed w/ him.

Spinks out boxed Mayorga plain and simple. That said, I would 100x more want to see Mayorga fight again then I would want to see Spinks. Spinks danced around the ring, landed the shots he needed and escaped 95% of Mayorga's power punches. That's what I mean when I say out boxed. BUT, Mayorga is 10x the more dangerous and more powerful puncher. He wanted to stand and trade with Spinks. Mayorga appeared to stun Spinks at least twice in the fight. Spinks even resorted to "falling down" to escape Mayorga's power. That was awful! Spinks must have fell down at least 6 ot 7 times, each time the ref called it "a slip". But it was obvious that 3 of those times he went down on his own! The last of which Mayorga clearly landed a shot to his ribs as he was going down. And the ref still calls it a slip? That was total bull****! If the fighter intentionally goes down to avoid trading punches he should be warned, point taken away, and then disqualified just like any other foul committed in the ring.

Mayorga was deducted 2 points in the fight. 1 for a late punch after the bell had sounded and 1 for punching while clinching. Both as a result of the sheer frustration of not being able to connect with Spinks.

I give Spink props for being a better boxer on this night. But Mayorga totally won me over. I couldn't give a **** to watch a Spinks vs. Mosley/De La Hoya/ Vargas. But Mayorga is a guy that I will always get excited to watch.

ps. I predicted this upset in dogofwar's survey. Just thought I'd mention that too
