View Full Version : Who is your favorite K-1 fighter?
My favorite is Mirko Cro Cop, of course. He has power, speed, great boxing technique and best high kick in K-1. I think Mirko still wants to become both Pride and K-1 champ and that he is capable to do that.
K-1 fans, who is your favorite and why?

my all time fav was the late great andy hug. his axe kicks were legendary and unpredictable. i also liked hoost and sam greco. the 1st generation of k-1erss was my fav. guess mirko could be included in there also, but now he 's mma, not so much k-1.
as for the present, i like mark hunt (huge puncher and granite chin), also is a distant cousin of david tua. also jerome lenbanner is the man. if mirko returns to k-1, he could easily be k-1 king again, but i'm glad he's made the transition to mma.

My all-time favorite was also Hug. He always seemed undersized and spent plenty of time on the canvas, but he had the heart of a warrior and was always entertaining. Lefty mentioned Sam Greco who I always thought was severely underated. Cro Cop honed those monster kicks in K-1, but he just couldn't seem to win the big one. As far as the current lineup Leko is fierce if a little undersized himself, and I love to watch Ray Sefo ask for as much punishment as his opponent can dish out! Hunt is never out of a fight and Aerts and Hoost are legends. My favorite current fighter though is Jerome LeBanner. When he's 100% he's capable of destroying anyone with his size and strength. Cro Cop vs LeBanner in K-1 is the fight I'd like to see more than any other fight in MMA!

They had a fight back in 1996, Mirko w/dec(3-0). They were both very young back than. If they fight again, I completely agree, it would be a dream fight, a classic like Mirko-Hunt and both Hunt-LeBanner fights.

It was a pretty entertaining matchup at the time, but both fighters have made tremendous improvements since then. I'm still disapointed that the rematch didn't happen at this year's Grand Prix Final!

This is a tough question because there are so many strong and likable fighters. Although he's past his prime, Peter Aerts is a sentimental favorite. He has great heart and seems like a great guy. His victory against Ignashov, who is one of the best K-1 fighters now, shows that he can still get it done.
Hoost's low kick is so precise, and i think he's always had LeBanner's number.
How can anyone not love Mark Hunt? I think there's a saying that you can learn more about a fighter from how he loses. Well, after i saw Hunt-LeBanner in the second round 2002 GP Final, i understood what that meant. Under a brutal and sustained attack from LeBanner, Hunt refuses to go down. I think it's one of the best K-1 fights ever.
CroCop is awesome, but unfortunately for K-1 fans, he seems to have lost interest. i think his last fight was his KO of Sapp. i hope he comes back and battles other greats such as Leko, LeBanner, and Ignashov.
Of course, Ray Sefo has charisma, but i don't think he's a top 10 K-1 fighter anymore. He looks chubby and too slow now.

Micheal McDonald! He's hella fast (though he does look a little roided). His strikes send echos throughout the arenas everytime he lands. 03 may have seen him slip a little but I'm confident a recovery is comin.

LeBanner. Lots of great names and most are entertaining. I always thought they should have renamed the big tourney the Andy Hug Memorial as tribute.

Cro Cop (he would win easly this K1 - but he had some others things to do). Leko and Ignasov .
I never see any mach from Branko Cikatic but I would like to - that was in the very start of K1 when he been K1 champion.
I dont know what is about us Croats, but kickboxing is not so popular in Croatia, still we have exilent fighters

I hope Cro Cop never goes back to K-1 and decides to remain in MMA for the rest of his career. Mirko has really found a nice niche in Mixed Martial Arts and K-1 just isn't as exciting as MMA because of MMA's added elements.

And i think he should share this and start sometimes in K1 too. If this is possible politically of course. I just think he's real game is standup and he deserves real good stand up opponents. Like Hoost, Bonjaski, LeBanner.

Anyways anyone would like to see CroCop vs Quinton Jackson or Crocop vs Fedor too? :D
I'd like to see Cro Cop vs Fedor. Cro Cop vs Rampage would not last very long and it wouldn't be competitive.
