I have been hearing this for awhile, I have heard Roy doesn't ever want to fight Tarver agian. I don't know why. But he is trying to get Glen Johnson. This is why I hate Roy, he is a fruad. He has all the talent in the world but no heart. If Roy gets his way, and Roy always does, he will fight Glen Johnson, and on PPV nonetheless.

this is an interview with antonio tarver, not a press release from the jones camp. until i hear it from anyone BUT tarver, i'll pay attention to it. there's no word of jones wanting out from fightnews.com(reilable). or anywhere else.
this thread is bull**** until further proof comes along. tarvers words mean nothing, what else would you expect from him?

haha this is completely true!! It is easy to see that Roy Jones is completely afraid of Tarver because he knows he will get his ass kicked if they fight again!

The rematch is meaningless. Roy beat Tarver convincingly at about 70%, so why wouldn't he absolutely destroy him at 100%? Silly.

Lefty - I don't think this thread is bull****, I am hearing more and more that Roy is ducking out of the fight and will fight Glen Johnson..I'm not stating it as a fact but it's a story that is gaining a lot of steam, and you must be joking that fightnews is reliable. I like fightnews but like any news source they have errors. I prefer Boxingtalk myself. Tarver has first hand info on the fight. He wants the rematch so if Roy is jerking him around he sheds light on it. He has no reason to lie.
Shamrocked - I agree Roy won the first fight but I thought it was close and not a convincing win. And given the public felt like Tarver won, there is money in a rematch.

dog: i've yet to hear anything about this on fightnews. i prefer fightnews to some other sites because it doesnt post rumors as much as others. as for hearing this info from tarver himself, he may just be trying to get under roy's skin. maybe he's playing the mental war. if jones is under contract (which i assume he is or the purse bid would never have happened) , he'll have next to no chance of getting out of it. fighting a bum like glen johnson at this point in roy's career would be an all time low point for him, and i bet he knows that.hbo wouldnt show that fight. a rematch with tarv is bad enough.
untill i hear some facts, and not b.s. from tarv, i wount even get into this again.

The thing is Roy is upset that King won the purse bid, all Roy has to do is give up the WBC belt. I don't know but Tarver said it and it's getting bigger as a rumor. If you go to fightworld.us which is a boxing board I post at you will see quite a bit of discussion. I feel that fightworld is the best boxing board on the net like this is the best MMA board.

i've never actually postedd on any boxing forum. this one looks to be good. most boxing forums are to chaotic so i stick with this one. just the though of posting regularily on a boxing forum make me shiver. i'll probably never leave my house or see daylight.
getting back to roy, i rember dkp outbidding jones. trying to self promote has always been a weakness and distraction with roy. at least in oscar's case, you know he doesnt do much besides sell his face.

first and foremost, Charles shut the hell up!
Secondly, I don't believe that Roy is scared of Tarver all. Sure sogofwar you may have heard that Roy is scared from various sources, but everybody also said that Tito Ortiz was afraid of Chuck Liddell. Did you really believe that? I never did because I thought and still think that Tito Ortiz is a much better fighter than Chuck Liddell. I believe this is the same case as Tarver and Jones. I think Jones is a much better fighter than Tarver and I don't think he's ducking him at all.

I didn't say people are saying he is scared, I said people are saying he wants out of the fight..
The reason he wants out is what is at debate. I think he scared of having a tough fight, Roy is such a primadonna and has been pampered that he doesn't want to have another rough fight which he could very well lose..
I think I have stated I scored the first fight to roy, but only 7 rounds to 5, and a few were close, so it was a close fight and Roy had to work harder than ever. In April of 2003 Roy weighted 193 lbs...Roy only had to lose 18 pounds in 8 months, so this idea the weight killed him is bull****.
