Bob Sapp: MIA in MMA?

Does anyone know what happened to Bob Sapp? For a while there it seemed as if he was Pride's top draw and they were determined to use him up. I know he did some K-1 shows, but MMA is really a better fit for a man of his size. Do you think that the emergence of Fedor and Cro Cop supplemented the need to feature the Beast? He's far from talented, but it's always interesting to see him matched up against quality opposition in Pride.

I was thinking of him the other day and I came to the conclusion that he is derserving to be in the GP. Not much talent but his pure strength and power would probably get him wins over at least half the field of the GP it think. He would have trouble beating the top few guys but I think he would be a favorite against a bunch of guys as well. I would like to see him in it.

K-1 gives him bazillions per fight and it's not nearly as physically demanding as MMA.

It doesn't really matter though. Whether it be K-1 or MMA, Bob Sapp sucks at them both.

Sapp was just not good enough to be a top Heavyweight draw in Pride anymore. Any top heavyweight in the MMA world can defeat Bob Sapp just like Nog and Cro Cop already have done so there was no point in keeping him as a top HW in MMA. At least in K-1 he gets to fight sideshow freak after sideshow freak.

I agree with everyone above. I hate Sapp for everything he stands for. He's like the Serpent in the garden of Eden tempting people to watch freakshows instead of real skilled fighting.

Sapp is better off in K-1. To see him rolling around on the mat is very boring. He's entertaining for about 2 minutes of stand up action. That's it.

Him and K-1 deserve each other.

Well said guys. Sapp alwasy has a slight chance because of his power. Other than a quick KO against a skilled fighter he has no chance. There is one match up in MMA id like to see Sapp face Tank. Let them destroy each other for about a min.

I don't agree w/ everyone above..

I think Sapp could have been pretty good at MMA and a top guy. His fight w/ Nog shows he had the stamina to go 20 minutes. He fought hard and w/ training and dedication he could have been good..

I don't think he wanted to train and K 1 he attempts to just use brute force but he can't punch. He has no technique. K 1 allows him to cheat and break the rules. They also will cheat to allow him to win ala Kimo.

I agree that the guy doesnt have much skills, but with his strenght and some technique on the ground, he could like force people into arm bars instead of looking for them. I agree his fights are good for about 3 minutes thats it cuz he gets tired.

I'd like to see him in the GP, I was so thrilled when I watched his fight against Nogueira, I'd like to see Daniel Gracie against him in the opening round, kind of like David vs Goliath.
