Arona waits for invitation for the GP
(Props to Tatame.com)

Almost a year away from rings, BTT Ricardo Arona expects an invitation from Pride organization to join the upcoming Heavyweight Grand Prix on next April 25th in Japan. "I am waiting for a chance to be among the fours names they haven't decide yet," stated the BJJ black belt, that left the Pride GP middleweight due to a injury in his feet.

Besides that, his will to compete is so strong that if the BTT is not at the GP, he promises to keep up the training: "I am returning to train with a gi. If I don't have a scheduled match, I might be joining the upcoming BJJ World Championships", guaranteed Arona.

He has no business in hw GP. He should go to that bjj championship he is talking about.

considering the fact that fuj and barrnett cant do **** with their inoki contracts, ricco is having surgery, and the ufc's big guns arent going anywhere, pride might as well throw arona in the mix. with rumors that igor and leko maybe injured, 16 spots may be tough to fill. i'd rather see a legit fighter like arona in the gp than another sumo.

Arona is a great fighter, a big name and a natural heavyweight. He's be quite a good addition to the GP in my opinion. Perhaps we could see Fedor vs Arona 2.

Arona isn't a bad choice at all. He's give quite a few heavyweights a run for their money.

Couldn't they a least give him and Kerr a reserve match? I think Kerr deserves that after his fluke loss at Pride 27.

i dont think they'll need any reserves, considering they're only fighting once on that night.

Aaahhh Kerr again. Do you really want Kerr to check into a disabled retirement community in his thirties? Kerr need months if not up to a year to get back into shape and upgrade his skills.

I would just like to see him involved in some way, maybe as a reserve in the final rounds. I think from now and until the finals he could train and get into solid shape and be ready! The poor dude, he just has the worst luck somtimes! :(

Arona is a superb choice for the gp. He's a great fighter and it would be fun to see him back in the ring.

Arona is a big guy, like Randleman and Jackson, but if he doesn't do well in the GP, will it reflect on his status in the middleweight division? Will his title shot be pushed further away if he loses in the first round? It's kind of odd, if he'll enter, then some people might end up fighting their friends and team mates, like Herring/Leko, Coleman/Randleman, Nog/Arona, Fedor/Kharitonov.
