Just read the interview on pridefc.com. Venderlei says hes up to 225lb (102kg) and told fans not to be shocked at his size. Whats the deal with that??
I know he can cut down to MW but seems odd to be actively putting on size quite close to a MW match with Kondo.

There's a topic going on saying the fight isn't due until a six month recovery time for Wanderlei, so I wouldn't be that worried.

Yeah I know that, in fact its a smart thing to adjust his training to a bulking type cycle since he won't be as active with his banged up knee.
The interview was posted on May3 and he's talking about the May23 Kondo fight so he's already a heavyweight then.
What I think is that he gained weight along with Rua because they were in negotiations with Pride for the GP2004 and Rua got selected not Vandy.

I don't know about that... sure, many suspected it, or more like hoped for it, but I don't really know if Wanderlei had that in mind.

I guess he could make it as well fighting in the heavies. Randleman's doing it, but both fighters are a bit short.

when these guys arent in training, they all walk around at this weight. (tito does, i'd bet randy, and rampage too) he should be carefull not to let it go too much.

I don't think Vandy walking weight is as much as the others until very recently. I think he used to be at ~200.
This is no big deal at all for Wandy. He cuts weight like crazy for his fights anyway, so it's not much of a big deal.

That was never his walking weight. People like Wanderlei regularly walk around much heavier than where they fight at.

Rua got selected because Wanderlei didn't want to put his reputation in jeopardy. They thought that if Rua loses, no big deal, but if Silva, their prized fighter and the #1 Middleweight in the world loses, not only Wanderlei Silva, but the whole camp loses face.

Trust me, Wandy won't be moving up to the HW division anytime soon, if ever. He doesn't want to get killed.

I think Wanderlei would have done a good job in the HWGP.
