Jones did alright in the 1st pushing Tarver back...
But when tarver started pushing Jones back it was the begining of the end.

for those who saw it, left or a right hook? did jones make an effort to get up? or just give in?

it was funny because in his prefight interview, Jones said that he's taken all of Tarver's best punches.
Obviously, that wasn't the case.

Overhand Left Hook...
Jones also threw a left hook at the same time, but he didn't have anything on it...
Seeing it live was weird because the angle you couldn't see the punch very well...
And the next thing you know Jones went down hard...
I thought it might have been a slip or something, until I saw how far under the ropes he was.

Roy Jones looked like he was outclassing Tarver for the first two rounds. Tarver KOed Jones with really his first power punch thrown.
It happened in the midst of a Jones combination that looked like he was scoring well. But Tarver came up with a short left hook, stepping into it with all his power, that landed flush on Jones' chin.
Jones went down hard (ala Robbie Lawler). He tried to get up but stumbled. By the time he made it to his feet (which was right at the 10 count) the ref waved it off. Jones really didn't look like he was with it, so it was probably the right decision.
Like Serialkilla said everyone at the bar I was at didn't see what happened. But the replay showed it clearly. Perfect left cross.
Part III soon to come I am positive.

I disagree...outclassing..
Very little happened in the first, Tarver was blocking most of the shots but Roid won the first, but no way outclassing anyone..
Tarver came out in charge in the second sticking that jab in Roid's face, Tarver was winning the round before he knocked Jones the **** out!!!!
Tarver is Roid's Daddy!!!
Roid said he doesn't want to fight Tarver again...Tarver owns him..

I saw Tarver do nothing until that KO. But that's just my opinion.
I didn't know Roy said that (didn't have audio at the bar). But Roy says a lot of **** he takes back. Who knows?
Moral of the story, Tarver is da man. Roy got a reality check.

I find it hard to believe that anyone predicted Jones being KOd. I thought it would go the distance with Jones getting the decision, again.
Let's see what Jones does from here. Tarver was a bad matchup for him. All the stories I've read on the fight seem to be saying that it's over for Jones. I would NOT be surprised to see Jones move back up to the hw division and take out James Toney (yea I said it).

I said and I'm on record Tarver was going to beat him..
I was suprised it was over that quick though.

There was no curse, Jones was overrated...period!
Fighting stiff after stiff doesn't get you prepared for the big fights.

The EA curse...its actually the Madden curse...but its happened before with other cover athletes....every year before a famous athlete is on the cover of thenewest EA Sports game....the very next season...they will do terrible or they will get injured that takes them out for the season.
This is the first year of EA Sports Fight Night...and Roy jones Jr happened to be the cover guy. Now he gets Knocked out!
BTW~I know next to nothing about the boxing world...I NEVER watch it...its too one dimensional for me...so I have no idea how good Roy Jones Jr is...I just knew he was on the cover of the fight night game.

Funny, I've been following boxing forever and Roy Jones since he started, and I too have no idea how good he is.
iron maiden beat me to it.
the EA curse lives, and starts it up with the new fight night serious.
perhaps they should go old school ala Ali....
i'm in shock about hearing this, I just now heard(consider me out of the loop)

That is totally true! I remember Randy Moss, Alan Iverson and Brett Favre all having sub-par years after they made the box cover.
But I think what started it all was Mike Tyson's punch out. I think that came out the same year Tyson lost to Buster.
