He straight up beat De La Hoya, yet Da La Hoya got the decision...

Sturm controlled the fight with his jab, and more importantly had EXCELLENT defense...

I loved the fact that when De La Hoya tried to cheaply steal rounds at the end of the rounds (ala Ray Leonard) Sturm just danced away from him taking away that advantage...

Hopkins won Decivly though.

I didn't see the fight. Can anyone give me a summary of what happened?

yeah De La Hoya got that win just because of the hype for the upcoming Hopkins vs. De La Hoya which will make millions for everyone envolved. If I'm De La Hoya I'm wondering if i really want to fight Hopkins?

Dunno-I think both De la Hoya and Hopkins were playing it safe to ensure the mega pay-day to come. I don`t care how rich you are (i.e. De la Hoya) a 10 Mil payday must be nice. Hopkins wasn`t pushing as much as usual but he clearly won his fight. De la Hoya pushed and he just scraped through in his (me and my friends had it 115-113 for De la Hoya although he definately didn`t clearly win the fight). If he tries the same **** on Hopkins -who can punch **** loads harder than Sturm- you can expect an early nite. I`m impressed by his balls but I really can`t see him winning, expecially on tonights performance! By the way 115-113 was how we thought the judges would score the fight - not exactly how we would have scored it ourselves.

I think this is a case of not getting up for an unknown fighter..

Oscar will be much shaper come September, although I don't think he can beat Hopkins.

i didnt want to pay the $49 , so i went to a titty bar to see it for $10. the only problem was, i got too caught up in the titty's and missed most of the fights. (not to mention i was hosed beyond comprehension.)

from what i vagulely remember:

castillo's power was the factor over lazcano. castilo deserves a title, good win.

hopkins looked sharp, and cautious. robert allen is BS! regardless, hopkins is still the master @ 160.

oscar/sturm , i can barely remember. i do however, remember those sweet sweet tittys. seriously, strum did look good and deserves respect for a guttsy performance. many say strum should have won, i think it was a close win for oscar.

in conclusion, dont go to a titty bar if you actually plan on watching the fight.

as for the decision, what do you expect?? there shouldn't be any surprise that if it went to dec, oscar would win regardless of how close it was. after all, they are trying desparatly to set up this mega fight. after seeing these tune ups, oscar better hit the gym, or bernard will make short work of him.

Yep, its easy to get side tracked when you have some tits right in your face. I wasnt gonna pay that much for the fights. Im saving my money for UFC and Pride.

I watched it again...

And there is no ****ing way De La Hoya won the fight...

I had it 116-112...

8 rounds to 4 for Sturm...

De La Hoya was being aggressive, but it was UN-affective aggressiveness.

Upon a second watch I had Oscar winning 6 rounds to 5 w/ 1 even..

Strum didn't win 8 rounds of the fight in my eyes...not a chance..

Boxing is subjective and it was a close fight..no way a robbery.

I watched it HBO replay and I thought the fight was close. I didn't score the rounds with a pencil/paper/stopwatch and I wouldn't complain if Sturm was awarded the win.

Sturm won big in a few rounds which might have colored the opinions of many spectators although Oscar IMO squeaked by the majority of the rounds due to him being more offensive and busier.

Hopkins was nervous as **** in his dressing room and looked as if he thought Oscar was losing the fight.
