Earlier today I seen on ESPN that Williams will retire from football. He bought a ticket to travel Asia and doesnt know when he will return. This is something he has been thinking about doing. Williams also admitted to using marijuana on a regular basis but was using a masking agent. The time he did get caught he says that he forgot to use the agent. Williams is into self-discovery and also not wanting to answer to anyone or meetings. He said he wants to be able to spend time with his kids when he wants and not have to go to an 8:00 AM meeting.

I dont understand his move. Personally, though, I like Ricky. I think its cool he is unique and not just a clone like most people. Its cool to see someone marching to beat of a different drummer.

I think he's a dumbass. He left a job that pays him millions a year to do something he's done all his life.

Yep. Amazes me when people pull this crap. They spend a ton of time and effort getting famous and then bitch about it being an imposition on them. But, they do like that money.

I like Rickys eccentric style, but what he did his teammates and fans is purely messed up. They are now left with Travis Minor as thier starting RB. Plato must be pondering, where is his ethics?

I hear the rumor is that Ricky didn't want to go to training camp. His agent says he thinks Ricky will be back in a month...right when training camp would be coming to a close...great timing.

I hope the fans in Miami give him an earful if and when he comes back.

What a huge blow to the Dolphins and their hopes at a Superbowl ring. Ricky Williams was pretty much their only shot and now he's gone.

You guys may or may not be aware that Williams has some sort of disease where he is afraid to be around people. I don't think he spent his life trying to be famous ... he just happens to have an exceptional talent that makes him famous. What the guy does with his life is his business. Good luck to him.

I think the guy is a clown. If a guy wants to quit football while he's still young and healthy (not to mention rich) more power to him, but to wait until a week before training camp to do it is just plain selfish. This isn't the kind of decision you just make overnight. He was surely mulling it over this summer and could've given his team a head's up so that they might find a suitable replacement (someone mentioned Eddie George). He claims he plans to call each and every teamate to personally apologize. I'd love to hear how that goes over! Personally I think he's too lazy to go through camp and he'd rather sit around and smoke weed than be bothered with it. I hear that Miami is in talks with the Vikings about acquiring one of their several solid backs. They were trying to deal Sam Madison during the off season, so maybe he's trade bait.

Speaking of Minnesota, they signed Bock Lesnar today in hopes of finding a spot for him a defensive end. He's been described by Vikings coaches as a "project with a capital P".

Also, Robert Smith has been considering a comeback, but he wanted to play for Denny Green provided he was coaching a legitimate contender. Green signed with Arizona, so I guess that's that!

and this coming from Don King? Say Don, what would you do if one of your top promoted fighters all of a sudden told you they never wanted to box anymore?

ESPN just said that Dan Le Batard of the Miami Herald reported that Williams failed his third drug test right before announcing his retirement. The NFL and Dolphins have not commented on the matter.

Here some of an interview on Fox Sports..

Williams told the newspaper that marijuana played a larger role in his retirement than he indicated when he walked away after just five pro seasons. He said he learned of the failed test and possible suspension days before telling coach Dave Wannstedt last week that he was through playing.

Williams said, however, that there were "a hundred reasons" for his surprising decision to retire, and his desire to continue smoking marijuana was only one of them.

He quit so he could smoke weed! ****ing retard.

^^^^^ Now that's funny! He must have been stoned when he made the decision. They say marijuana takes away your desire and motivation. Maybe there's some truth to that, :) eh Ricky? Some day when he grows up he will look back and shake his head. Well, beats smoking crack at least.
