Hamed to return in 2005!
By Craig Watt
Former WBO and IBF Featherweight Champion Prince Naseem Hamed has told BBC Sport that he will make a return to the ring in early 2005. Commenting on the success of British Olympian Amir Khan at the Athens games he confirmed, "I am still fresh and still got the hunger to come back and do what I want to do. So in early 2005 you will see me back in a ring." Hamed is now 30 years of age and there has been much speculation as to whether he would return to the ring following his last fight back in May 2002 when he defeated Spaniard Manuel Calvo on points in London. The Prince was certainly one of the top UK fighters in the last decade and he has just one defeat against Marco Antonio Barrera in April 2001 in his impressive record of 36-1 (31 kos). Hamed's intended return will draw much attention in the 126 pound division both sides of the Atlantic.

Great news! Prince is great boxer and one hell of a showman. Looking forward to his future fights.

He's one of those boxers that you either love or hate. I have friends who don't care much for boxing but know about him and would watch with friends just hoping he gets his ass kicked! I don't think he can compete with the elite but he is very fun to watch and turns his match into an event. Boxing needs him back.

unfortunately for him, he'll be coming back into a division that's gotten much tougher since he left. guys like pacman, marquez, and morales would eat him alive .had he stayed active, he may have still been in contention. barrera's win over the prince shattered him mentaly (just like meldrick taylor after his loss to chavez).

Naseem is a great showman but he's been on a downward slide long before Barrera beat him convincingly. Its hard for me to see him motivated, training hard and be in top condition after all this while.
