How in the hell did Ryo Chonan escape from this armbar? Newton had him locked, hips arched and everything!

that looks like an impossible position in which to escape. Chonan must either be some kind of wizard or Newton must have gassed really bad.

Out of all respect for newton as a hard training fighter that has hopefully has sacrificed allot to fighting, I dont think he should fight anymore. I cant recall on a particular fight that has highlighted his courier as a great fighter, or even him winning as of lately.If the incentive of winning doesnt cover it then maybe he should just take a break and think if some new fighting techniques.

I think that's a very premature thing to say. Newton is still a great fighter who possesses some of the best grappling skills in the entire Welterweight division.

Somebody mentioned it before but Newton really needs to fight a team and some credible training partners for his future fights.

That is a nasty armbar. Some guys are just incredibly tough and flexible. Doerkson had a similar arm bar on Leben who wouldnt tap. I thought his are was going to snap at any minute. The girls in the audience were squirming. Doerkson finally let up. Then later on in the fight Doerkson got him in a very good kimura, and again Leben wouldnt tap and he finally let go and won a decision in a great fight.

Newton is becoming a gate keeper. I hope he turns things around because I am a big fan of his.

i saw the fight and Chonan has amazing heart for getting out of that armbar. Newton had it locked on pretty good but Chonan kept struggling and started kicking Newton in the face which eventually led to his escape through the side door.
