shadowboxing

Im new to the forum, I am a biginner in mma (rookie), my question is about how to shadowbox, ive seen it done in movies and back stage at ufc events, this may be a dumb question, but i havent got alot of training under my belt. just looking for some tips on how to shadowbox, thanks for any help,
