I always wondered what kind of impression one would have of mma after watching this movie. I'm talking about someone who might be only vaguely familiar with MMA, or not familiar at all, what do they think of the sport after seeing this movie?
I've watched this movie a dozen times. And "they" enhanced the sounds of the fighting. No joke here, the sounds of the punches were like big, wet "splats", seemingly enhanced to create a sense of gore, imo. To me it's obviously enhanced sound.
Anyone else notice this?
i think it's a good thing they're showing it. watching that movie is actually what led me to buy the Heavyweight Grand Prix and become a total MMA freak a few years ago.
and yea, the splats did sound louder to me too- like they took a mic into a meat locker and pounded some beef rocky-style with the gain turned way up.

It is a good documentary. Not only is the sound of the fights enhanced but the alternate camera angles used are amazing. Its like you are standing by the edge of the ring watching the fight. When Kerr and Vovchanchyn collide it's like watching two bulls slamming into each other. The best part of the documentary though is the backstage footage. Seeing how scared some of the fighters are before their matches and the sportsmanship displayed afterwood is revealing. As is Kerr's heartbreak after being knocked out by Vovchancyn.

Kerr had me fooled when I first saw him at the Vale Tudo tourney. He looked confident but cautious. Then I found out after watching this documentary that he was constantly puking because he was so nervous and kept drinking little dixie cups of water, only to throw it up again.

Do canadian VCR's play standard tapes fom the US?
And I have to agree with what another poster asked about what kind of taste this show would leave in a non-fan , or a relative new fan's mouth after watching it.
