Koscheck did great against Leben because he is Leben's kryptonite. Leben is a striker with no ground game, so Koscheck was able to take him down and control him. Just like Koscheck was kryptonite for Leben, Diego is complete kryptonite for Koscheck. He's a completely submissino oriented fighter. I'd bank on Diego submitting Josh within the first few minutes of round 1.

You even saw some of the differences in styles and ability when they were training together with Diego reversing Josh with ease.

Koscheck did a good job getting rid of Leben who was probably the favorite for the whole thing, but he doesn't have a chance at winning at all due to the fact that styles make fights.

If Kos has any sub defense I say he'd win it.

But Diego does have wicked subs.
Niether have any stand up.

Diego takes it.....

Diego does have killer subs, but Josh is very strong. I think he has a solid future as does Diego.

ive known josh for years and just like no one gave him a chance against Leben, hes very dedicated and he'll do what he has to to win. Against any other wrestler he should have a pretty good chance of coming out on top very strong capable athlete. Everyone said Leben was the best there, if thats the case Kos has an open road ahead!! Hes only going to get better in time, hes one of the least experienced there

I wonder what the excuses will be next if Josh beats Diego. If they fight. I think Josh would be a tough match for Diego. His takedowns and strength advantage could control Diego too.

A submission guy is a wrestler's WORST NIGHTMARE because it means that when the wrestler is on top, he's actually in the danger zone of the submission guy. A pure wrestler almost NEVER beats a pure Sub guy. You could name example after example of this fact.

Josh has been in MMA for 1 year. He's a pure wrestler. Anytime he fights a good sub guy, he will lose, including to Diego. That's just how it is with the style vs style matchup.

IMO

Kos will lose to Diego/Quarry and will win against the other guys.

I think the Gracie-Severn fight was a classic example of that. I have spoken to Dan and to this day he thinks he should have beat Royce but as much as I like Severn I don't think he had a chance. At least Shamrock had some sub-skills (and a lot of strength) and he still got schooled by Gracie in the first fight. This isn't an attempt to sing the praises of Gracie, just a reflection on when I first became aware of how dangerous submission guys are.

That said, when I look at Koscheck I see a guy with huge potential in the future if he keeps his head straight...
