From MMAWeekly.com...

MMAWeekly.com has learned that Joe Riggs is indeed the replacement for Trevor Prangley at UFC 52. It will be Ivan Salaverry taking on the Diesel. Prangley lost in his last fight in South Africa, thus Riggs replaces him. More news to come....

RIggs is a great addition to ufc 52. He is going to get tested against a tough fighter in salaverry though. salaverry is now training with ortiz, which should improve his wrestling. BOth coming off impressive wins, this should be a great fight. IT will be competitive.

Right now I'd have to give it to Salavery.

He's tough.

But so is Riggs.

WOW! This is a great fight...I think Riggs may be too strong for him but this is a hell of a match up.

This is going to be a great fight I cant call it but I am leaning towards Riggs. Hopefully it wont be a prelim. DM

Of course someone like themunchies has to be negative. This is a damn interesting match up. Two very solid fighters here. Im interested in seeing Riggs again, he looks like he could be a possible contender at 185. Salaverry is coming off that big win against Frykland.

ACID sometimes you really need to get off the UFC's jock.

What's so negative about it. There is very little chance, almost 0 that we will see this on the PPV so why the hell should anybody get excited for it?

Come on, it was obviously said in a smart ass manner. Say what you will about the UFC jock I dont give a ****. Its ridiculous though that every ****in UFC card there is always bull**** comments like that. Yet when Pride announces some pathetic fight like Nak/Leko he doesnt say ****. Thats asskissing. I praise both companies and I critisize both. If you call me a UFC nuthugger I could care less. Anyways, the comment wasnt towards you. So its not your concern anyway.

The fact is that we get to actually see the Leko/Nak fight which is better than seeing nothing at all which will be the case with UFC 52 and this fight.

And I don't know what's shoved up your ass since he didn't even bash the fight anyway.

LOL dhk Im just a friendly kind a dude. Serious, I have nothing against anyone here. Thats there opinion and I state mines. I just get tired of the BS. Only a few defend the UFC here and Im one of them.

The UFC is live, so yeah, it sucks but sometimes we dont see all the fights. Riggs is a marketable fighter so Im sure it will be on. Both guys are entertaining and come to fight. Im sure it will be shown.

No chance buddy, no ****ing chance. Both guys are virtual unknowns so it would be pointless to show this prelim instead of other prelim fights.

I think you even know yourself deep inside that they won't show it. Care to make an avatar bet on it if your so confident?

Your on bro. Even if it isnt on the main card it will be shown. No matter what though, munchies made a comment. I just said he was negative, no big deal. Then when you came it all this got blown out of proportion.

I didn't say anything at all about the matchup. It's a somewhat potentially interesting fight. Not too exciting because it's not a big-name fight but interesting. However, it's all null and void because the fight is not getting shown. It's just a fact. The UFC has like 10 fights on the UFC 52 PPV.

And you say you're excited to "SEE" Riggs again. Well I sure hope you bought a ticket to the show cause that's the only way you'll see him.

If Im wrong then oh well. Riggs is the type of fighter the UFC crowd likes. He talks **** and has a personna. Im sure they see marketing in him. Similar to Baroni. Plus Salaverry likes to throw as well.

So, Prangley's participation at UFC 52 was conditional upon him winning in South Africa...is that right? Since he lost, he's out?

Why?

Riggs was featured before and would have been featured last ppv, so why would have suddenly be off the card. You have no facts to back that up..

There is a better chance than not that Riggs will be on the show.

You don't know what your talking about!!!

See above post..

there's a better chance that he'll be on than not? I don't think so buddy. Ivan Salverry has been in the UFC 3 times. All 3 of his fights have been prelims.

The UFC only showed 6 fights last time. UFC 52 has what, 9-10 fights? Salaverry vs Riggs is their lowest draw fight they have on their entire card. and with the way the UFC wastes time with all their miscellaneous ****, I don't expect it to be shown at all.

dogofwar
02-28-2005, 11:32 PM
That's because you don't know what your talking about..

Let's look at the for sures:
Randy Couture vs. Chuck Liddell
Matt Hughes vs.Frank Trigg

Very Likely:
Patrick Cote vs. Lee Murray
Jason Miller vs. Georges St. Pierre

That leaves 2 more fights for sure.
Joe Riggs vs. Ivan Salaverry - on the show
Matt Lindland vs. Travis Lutter - on the show
Renato Sobral vs. Travis Wiuff - maybe in place of Lindland.
John Marsh vs. Mike Van Arsdale

Out of those 4 fights, Riggs is the guy that is featured guy. So I would say he has a hell of a chance, better than not. It's the most attractive fight of the 4, it won't go the distance, and Riggs is a future star. And you are going on the assumption that only 6 fights will be shown. The UFC has been doing a pretty good job the last year of 7 fights. UFC 52 won't have all the hype for TUF either.

I don't know where you got 10 fights at but it must be the same place where you got there is a 0 percent chance Riggs won't be shown...in your mind!!!!

Riggs is going to be so busy looking for a ko that Ivan will slap on that patented figure four body lock for the win. :)

The thing that really is most ridiculous here is that i'm hearing how this will get airplay because of Riggs....
Salaverry is far more accomplished than Riggs and i strongly favor him to win. It may be as much a mismatch as the Fryklund(however he spells it) fight.
I think Trevor Prangley v. Salaverry is a more competitive match.

Prangley certainly has a more impressive resume than Riggs.

Read between the line...not just looking at the words. Riggs is a guy the UFC as a future champ, the fight will get aired because of him...that doesn't mean that he is going to win..

I think he is but that wasn't the point.

I agree. Riggs vs Salaverry has future MW contender all over it. Unfortunately, so does Lindland vs Lutter. It's going to come down to which of these two fights they are going to choose to show (I don't think they have room for them both on the main card).

Who will the crowd prefer to see, Lindland or Riggs? I think thats an easy enough question. Riggs is the kind of fighter the UFC can push where Baroni and Lawler failed. He is that bad boy image.
