Hey guys,

I'm interviewing Matt Lindland in the next couple of days. I've got a lot I want to talk to him about. But, if there's something you guys want to know please let me know. I'll try to work in as many of your Qs as possible.

Later,

What are his thoughts on how the UFC has always treated him like **** even though he has consistently been one of the top 5 Middleweights in the world?

that pretty much sums it up from me

What exactly do you guys mean by treating him like ****... I think he's known as probably the most boring fighter in the whole world and yet he gets air time, I think that's pretty good. I've never heard complaints about money, but since you both asked it, can you tell me what's between him and the UFC?

Would he rather rematch David Terrell or fight against Evan Tanner for the UFC Middleweight Title?

Why hasn't he nicknamed himself Mr. Electricity? http://mmafighting.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

I could just picture him using the Lance Storm line, "If I can be serious for a minute". http://mmafighting.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

Has he ever considered fighting in PRIDE? What's his daily driver?

What ever happened with the deal with Sakuraba? It was set for him to face Sakuraba at the Shockwave show in 2003 but it didn't go through for some reason.

What made him join Team Quest.

How does his family feel about him fighting for a living? What weighs heavier-family, TeamQuest, or self?

Does RingGirl put her hair down and down a few shots of quality tequilla after a long week of photo shoots?(just kidding, no disrespect intended) ;)

lol! He actually did try to get me to drink some sake one time when we were hanging out. ;) Matt's a really fun guy to hang out with, he has a great sense of humor. His wife and kids are awesome too, his wife works every Sportfight and pretty much ran the Sportfight show that he fought in so that he could fight. His kids are really smart and both train at Quest. His daughter did an exhibition match at one of the Sportfight events, too.

Ask him why he doesn't hit the weights more.

And ask him to slap a flying triangle on Follis for me.

How is Sport Fight doing financially and between that and Team Quest, is he set to do ok once his fighting days are over? Phrase it how you want, but the gist of my question is that he seems to be one of the fighters smart enough to start building now for when the future when his time fighting is over.

Ask him how Evan Tanner's departure affects Team Quest and the training sessions.

ask him how he got himself so well respected and ranked amongst and above a bunch of fighers he can't and hasn't beaten.

My friend is asking these questions... hopefully, you can ask Matt, Tony.

1. Will Matt Lindland v Evan Tanner happen in the foreseeable future?
2. What does he think of The Ultimate Fighter and does he agree with Leben coming back?
3. What does he think of the upcoming Ken Shamrock v Rich Franklin match? Who does he think will win?

Thanks Tony!

I didn't think so, since you seem to be professional at your jobs or work and you practice some martial art discipline, I think. I can't really picture you and TeamQuest driving around drunk, bar hopping, although you wouldn't have to worry about being harrassed with fights. ;)

Are all the fighter's hands(like Randy, Dan, Mat, etc) considered a lethal weapon like professional boxers?

Oh, and how is Art Santore doing? He's become one of my favorite fighters to watch in the cage on dvd.

Art is doing good - he is fighting Phil Baroni next week!

They are fighting on St. Patrick's Day here in Los Angeles at a venue in Hollywood. I will be going as one of my 10th Planet teammates is also on the card. Should be a fun night!

I'm going to laugh if Phil loses to Santore!

Ask if he has any plans to fight in Cage Rage again or return to the UK?

What did he think of CR and the UK MMA scene?

Did he enjoy his stay in the UK?

Oh and ask why the hell he never cut promos like he did at CR in the UFC?

tell him he has at least one British fan too.

Well then bust a gut, because I'd bet on Santore, and I'm not knocking Baroni. Santore has good stand up and an excellent ground game in submissions.;)

RG, thanx for the news on Art, have fun at the fights. 10th Planet teammates??? I'm sure Santore will put on a good show. This could be a big win for him. I hope you take your camera with you.:)

I finally got a hold of Matt after playing phone tag with him for a week. I was at my buddies place having a few drinks when he called me. So I had to do the interview half drunk, asking him Qs off the top of my head:rolleyes: LOL. I think I remembered to ask him most of your Qs but if I missed some I'm sorry.

Hope you guys enjoy it. It'll be up in the next few days.

a drunk Tony asking questions to Matt Lindland? That's going to be a funny read

I'm curious Tony, how are you able to copy down the entire interview while on the phone? Do you use a laptop or what?

Sometimes I record the conversation. But, that takes hours to re-listen and write out an interview. So I prefer to just take notes with a pen and paper. I have a pretty good memory so that seems to work out pretty well. However, last night I had about 6 shots of Tequila before speaking to Matt so we'll see how well I do transcribing this one:rolleyes:

Wait 'till you read Lindland's words on Baroni....hilarious!

I'm off to Team Tompkins (perhaps the best MMA team in Canada) right now. There's some friends of mine from where I train that are fighting their team in K-1 rules this afternoon. Should be fun:p .

****! 6 shots seems insane to me. 1 would slur my words for sure, 2 would put me out! I'm wondering if/how they effected the questions you asked, or your attitude, let alone trying to read what you wrote.

nah. in my 30's. just avoid all that & train the best i can. one day my grandma was pushing wine on me, i finally caved to the holiday pressure and started buzzing after 1/2 a glass. at this point, it's just an uncomfortable sensation, but i don't knock it.

I bet Canada would like the USA to go back to prohibition, so that they could bootleg the whiskey in for big money.;) Oh, but wait, you Canadians still have those diet pills the states love so much. :-D But I prefer your liberal laws on the cannibas relaxus, or has that changed? At least part of your country does well in that business interest.:p

Just kidding, Tony, now finish transcribing and I hope it was quality tequilla, makes all the difference the next day.
