I actually make a point of being careful to separate out 'I liked it' from 'It is a good movie'. Splitting both of those scores to X/10, I would put Iron Man 3 as follows:

I Liked it: 8 / 10...

I suspect that much of what your hearing is mostly internet echo chamber, talking to people who didn't like it. Real word of mouth kills the hype on a movie fast enough that it should have pushed...

That is why I said it may not hold up to scrutiny in a few years. Even so, I think that the amount of fan rage that the prequels attract is somewhat overblown.
