    By main character do they mean only from the main family?

    Somehow picking Selma seems a bit safer than picking any of the male chacters. Is lesbianism somehow less offensive than a gay male character? I'd bet that since the vast, vast, majority of Simpson viewers are men they intentionally avoided picking a gay male character.
