SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN: Paradise Beach.
"The Meewasin Valley Authority wants to tidy up a troubled beach with a sullied reputation. It has applied to the Rural Municipality of Corman Park to rezone a four-acre parcel of land adjacent to Paradise Beach as conservation land. 'We're trying to encourage more family use for the area, rather than undesirable use,' said MVA planning coordinator John Gerstmar. The secluded Paradise Beach area, also known to sun worshippers as 'Bare Ass Beach,' is located about 17 km southwest of Saskatoon on the South Saskatchewan River.

Directions: "Proceed south from the intersection of Dundonald and 11th Street. Do not turn - this eventually becomes Valley Road. At 18.35 km turn left onto Range Road 3063 (gravel). Approximately 3 km further on there will be a parking area on the left, currently under construction. A foot path beyond a white gate leads to the beach. The nude area seems to be to the left as you face the water." [Chris, July 1998]
Note: "The area continues to be used by both nudists and clothed persons. The water level of the river is very low right now allowing for miles and miles of sandbars. The water is shallow and warm but the current is very, very fast. Unfortunately, as more "textiles" come to use the beach, more garbage (broken beer bottles, cans, chip bags, etc.) is left on the beach." [Lisa, 1999 July 13]
