Default Losing Weight - and being fight ready.

So I'm clocking in at about 164(ish) pounds right now. I'm planning to fight at 155 (where I have to weigh 154.9 or less) and am kind of looking for general advice as to what people think the best way to lose the weight is.

I'm confident that I can suck it down a day or two before the fight (I wrestled in high school and in college), but I'm thinking that maybe slowly dropping the 10(ish) pounds to 155 is a better idea.

All of my dropping when I wrestled was done fast and often a couple of days before the match.

Anyone have tips, ideas, etc on how to cut the weight without putting myself through the "sauna suit, sprint in place, read old newspapers and men's health in the sauna with a bunch of 65 year old naked men at the YMCA" routine?

I guess laying off the deep fried artichoke hearts and french fries at Gordon Biersch would be a start (DOH!)

I would just eat right and then see where you are at and sweat out the rest of the weight. You don't want you opponent weighing 170 while you are at 155.

Your diet leading up to the fight is very important. Avoid any bad food and keep the eating regimented. I don't know about you but I would hate to have to fight an mma fight after I cut 10+lbs the night before...

I cut about 8 lbs before a kick boxing bout and it is not too bad. I feel fine, granted I have it down to a science now.

I have to reiterate - I've shredded a lot more weight than 10 pounds. I'm simply wanting to know the best way to keep it to a minimum up untill fight time and when a good time would be to do this. I have a fight in late Feb and will be doing the pankration tournament in late March.

Is it rice, veggies, and chicken untill then?

Losing 1o pounds in a day is really not that extreme. I usually cut 10 lbs day of the weigh-in by stop drinking and eating around 8pm the night before the weigh-in.
When I wake up I sip just a little bit of water and have a protein bar. Then I weigh myself every 2 hours. Usually 4 hours before weigh-in's I put on a suana suit and roll with a partner lightly for a 1/2 hour and the hit focus mits for 10 minutes and then I go hit the sauna.

As soon as I step off the scale I start slowly rehydrating and I eat 3 small meals before bed time.

By fight time I have put all the weight back on.
