Not a bad little French action flick.

wait a minute, wait a minute cb... you tellin me grizzley park is a remake? the one i saw is new, and hillariously aweful. if there's an old one, im gonna have to get it...

ray, if u like older flicks, check out truffauts "shoot the piano player" if ya havent allready. a lot of folks seem to skip over it cause everyone creams over 400 blows.
id also recomend brick. its newer, but its bassically an old noir detective flick set in a modern highschool. its really good...

and for everyone who hasnt seen it, i noticed my local video store now carries godzilla final wars... im assuming its available at most others... best zilla flick by far, save the original... and don fryes in it...

There is always movies that you don't catch in theaters, yet you watch them once they hit DVD, as well as buying movies that maybe no one has talked about in recent memory. So here we go:

    Rentals:

10,000 BC - Bad reviews from the critics and the lack of interest from much of the public kept me from checking this out when it was in theaters. It looked interesting but I was never sold on it. I decided I would check it out now that it was available for rent. It was actually better than I thought it was going to be. Granted, I wasn't expecting much and it actually sat on top of my DVD player for a while before I got around to watching it but it was worth the rental. While it is not the most captivating storyline, it is interesting and will keep you watching. This along with some decent action throughout the movie makes it worth checking out. 7/10

    Purchases:

Lately I have been trying to build up a little collection of movies so I went to Best Buy last week and made some purchases of some movies that I liked in the recent past. I picked up The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, and Black Hawk Down all for $6.99 each. I also picked up The Illusionist since it was on sale and I had never seen it before. A few of my friends recommended it. While it wasn't as good as The Prestige(which I bought as well), it didn't disappoint. Ed Norton really made the movie for me, and Jessica Beil is hot. Well that is all for me right now, lets see what you guys come up with.
I was gonna list some favorites', but then I got distracted. Thanks NY...................Here's the Jess jiggle.

I havent seen Grizzly Park so no idea of remake or just a creature flick sorta like how every shark movie owes a debt to jaws. Id like to find Grizzly on dvd, Im sure its out there in some cheapie form, it wasnt a bad B movie.

Ok, i just picked up a few movies from last year. First one was Gone Baby Gone. This movie was amazing. A lot better than I expected. I am surprised that I didn't hear more praise about it than I did. This might of been the best movie that I have seen from 2007. It definitely ranks up there with the top ones at the very least. I though the acting great, especially Casey Affleck. The story was pretty good as well. The movie did a great job of capturing a very "real" feel and it really makes you think at the end, wondering would you of done the same thing. This is well worth the $19.99 for I am sure I will watch it again later on down the road and I will be recommending this to some friends. 9/10

The other one I got was There Will Be Blood. I didn't remember hearing about this one at all last year, but recently I had read a couple reviews on it that were holding it to pretty high regards so I picked it up. I though it was very good, but maybe not as good as some people were making it out to be. The story was great and I can see why Daniel Day-Lewis won best actor. It deals with a lot of issues and follows the main character through all his struggles as a businessman. Good watch. At least worth the rental. 8/10

I've had a problem with this lately too. There is just something about buying movies that makes me feel good. I guess it's a healthy obsession though.
