Based on the quarter-final series, here are my picks:

Preds over Coyotes in 6 games. As soon as Mike Smith realizes he's not a Vezina level goaltender the desert dogs keel over.

Flyers over Devils in 5 games. Philly has too much grit and firepower and although Brodeur is good, he's not as good as he used to be.

Blues over Kings in 7 games. I think this is going to be a fun series, but I'll take the genius of Ken Hitchcock in the end.

Rangers over Capitals in 6 games. Washington over-performed in the opening round. NY under-performed.

It only took three overtime periods, but NY has taken a 2-1 series lead over those dastardly Caps! YES!!!!!!!!

Well, the Blues were swept this afternoon. So my prediction on that series looks like a$$. I figured Hitchcock had some master plan to get St. Louis to the Cup, where they'd lose to the Rangers. Ah well...

In my office pool there were only two out of 14 of us who had a team left going into the quarterfinals, that team being the Rangers.

Nobody picked L.A., Phoenix or New Jersey to get as far as they did. Now it's going to take some mental gymnastics to figure out who won our pool.

Anyway, if anyone placed money on a Kings vs. Devils final that person would have done really well for themselves, that's for sure!

And it's the Kings who prevail in the opener of the Stanley Cup finals. I think LA takes it in six.

Damn Devils had so many chances to win that game last night. Not good with names but a fanned shot at an almost open net could have ended it.

Great way to end game one though, breakaway one on one with the goalie. Looking forward to rest of series, but
whats with this 3 days off, Saturday game 2. If you didn't wanna do Friday night, shoulda started Tuesday and had game 2 Thursday.

    Yeah, the schedule ****ing sucks.
You can blame NBC for that.
