Default TNA Impact Hogan era ongoing discussion

Last nights TNA featured a ton of hotshot angles which only resulted in a 1.0 rating vs WWE's 3.4. That hardly indicates a war is taking place. Here are just some of the angles TNA hotshotted last night per www.wrestlingobserver.com

    http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/12576/

The big angle was Stings heel turn. Hogan/Abyss vs Flair/Angle was a no contest when Sting did a run in and destroyed Hogan with the baseball bat. It gets repeated later aparently.

Sting vs RVD. RVD got the win in 9 seconds (?) and then Sting destroyed him with the baseball bat. He then used the bat on two refs before Hogan came out and Sting took him out (again) with the bat.

Main event was Hogan/Abyss vs Flair/Styles closes the show after opening it earlier. Flair and Hogan double juiced and Abyss pinned Styles. Run in by Desmond Wolfe after the finish. Then Jeff Hardy did a run in attacking Styles.

What to make of all this?

Hogan was all over the show using himself to try and get ratings. He simply can't stay away from the camera.

RVD joined the promotion and was destroyed in his debut. WTF are they thinking destroying him on his debut?

Stings big heel turn is a hot shot angle that won't get over with fans.

Hogan and Flair in the ring in a juice match was pulling the trigger on a match they should have delayed and built up for a year.

Hardy doing a run in at the end is probably the only thing that makes sense so they can set up a program of Jeff vs AJ.

All of this on live Monday Night tv resulted in a 1.0 rating. Thats terrible. Even worse is that Chris Angel hosting RAW did a 3.4. Blech.

You should take a camera and get as many photos as you can because there are alot of names there that aren't going to be working in the future: Flair, Hogan, Angle (injuries will finally retire him), Sting (didn't want to come back this go round but they keep throwing money at him and giving him an easy schedule). And young guys like RVD and Hardy probably aren't long term as RVD likes to do it part time and chill, and Hardy will end up doing something bizarre.

It looks like Bischoff and Hogan are burning through hotshot angles trying to pop ratings instead of slowly playing things out and thats one of the things that was wrong with WCW. They gave away big ppv matches on free tv, the burned through angles too fast, and they had too many angles going at once in overload. TNA is eerily looking like they are following the WCW playbook page for page and we know how that ended up. And thats too bad because there are young guys in TNA who will get lost in the shuffle.

The WWE realizes they need to ramp up developmental and there is a lack of youth out there to fill their ranks for the future. I'm thinking we might see some of the younger and/or better talent from TNA who get lost in the shuffle to show up in WWE especially if Brian Danielson gets over this season and Low Ki gets over in season 2. Wouldn't surprise me to see Christopher Daniels be raided to come in season 3. Be cool to see the WWE start building around X division type guys. So bizarre even considering that could happen after TNA blew them off to go with geriatrics.

Be sure and take a sheet of plastic because the blood will be flying like watermelon juice at a Galaghar show.

I knew Cbear was going to spin this only one way.

yeah, I don't want TNA to fail anymore than I want Strike Force to fail but when they do crazy stuff, I just shake my head in frustration. A 1.0 rating has to be considered disastrous considering the amount of money spent to bring in Team Hogan, sign RVD & Hardy, re-sign Sting to his big money contract. They have gone Monday night against Vince. They have brought in every big gun they can to try and jump start ratings and it isn't happening.

It really makes me wonder whether the inneffective TNA booking/writing that is leading to a lack of fan interest or if we have really reached the point where wrestling fans simply don't want anything but the WWE?

1.0 is awful in any terms, but it's fun to see Cbear dancing on the grave of TNA.

To be honest though, TNA's Monday show seems like they did somethings okay and others not. It's no surprise that Spike will spin the positive even on a 1.0. What should be worth noting is if TNA improves on it as it seems rather unanimous in the different sites that TNA put out a much improved show and some of them even begin to speculate that the TNA show ended up being more interesting than RAW.

Problem is TNA blew their wad back in Jan. What they should have done is kept the live Monday shows going every week.

By the time they actually went back to it yesterday, nobody really cared and nobody was excited about it.

I flipped through both shows. Neither one was that great. Raw has amped up their show with guys like William Regal. I was surprised that Hogan and Flair were blading for the majority of the show, so that was kind of cool.

Macmahon vs Cena was lame and I dunno how Brett Hart got injured by a Limosuine but oh well.
