Little me got mounted by 240 lbs brown belt who inches his knees up under my armpits forcing my arms to be pinced over my head I strained to push his knees down but couldn't, I think that's where I injured it. I felt it but just though it was a bruise or wrench. I woke up the next day, went to take a shower and threw up my arms to take my t-shirt off and I went down with pain like I someone shot me in the shoulder. I thought I snapped a collarbone x-rays said no, they said it was just a strain. 6 weeks later I still can't raise the arm over my shoulders, so they are sending me to the shoulder doc and possible MRI.

Good to hear you haven't quit.

As far as Kimo vs Gracie that's a bad example IMO. Gracie was beaten down by Kimo, so that after the fight he wasn't able to continue in the tournament to fight Harold Howard. So Gracie's side through in the towel vs Howard.
When Ken Shamrock found out that Gracie quit the tournament, he also quit and Jennum replaced him.

Dan Severn vs Royce might be a better example of technique vs strength for those reasons.

Good call, no surgery but 3 months of PT. It still seems tender in over the head movements and I can't lift weights with my hands too far apart. I might be just too timid about injuring it again. Also, I delevoped a shoulder spasm which is annoying as all get out! THey want to inject botox to settle the spasms down.

    Damn, that sucks Snapcat.

A month ago, I thought a "sprain" was a just a minor injury. A mere inconvenience. Then I sprained my ankle (I mentioned it in the Judo thread) and the following morning, I thought it was broken. I couldn't put any pressure on it at all. It ended up being a partial tear of the ligament. Lessoned learned though. I'll never underestimate a sprain again.

the surgery will probably come later on, hopefully not. did the mri show any tears? I had severe spasms in my shoulders after surgery it was from nerve damage.....good luck man and keep us posted

also it has taken 3 yrs for my shoulders to "feel" normal most of the time, still not every day, but I'll take it any time over what I was feeling

Shoulders take a while to heel. I strained mine a while back and it took a couple months to not feel funny when I moved it.. I basically just had to rest that shoulder and not use it that much.

Yes, a small tear in the librum or whatever they call it. It happend Dec 2nd and now it's the end of July. I can use it for everyday stuff but not lifting, throwing, striking or strenuious bjj.

Yep, joint injuries are always the longest to get back to normal it seems. I've always been ver conserative when recovering from an injury so maybe I'm just babying it too much?
