SPOILERS BELOW!!!
Well I thoroughly enjoyed the season finale. After the opening minutes when they revealed who the killer was (or so it seemed) I was wondering how the rest of the episode was going to play out. For me it was an strange roller coaster of an episode where you had the obvious intensity of the opening events, but that was followed by a period where there wasn't necessarily a build up, rather more of a flatness when I was thinking there has to be more to it. I wasn't sure though if there was going to be another surprise forthcoming or just a disappointing wrap-up explaining the details of the murder followed by a lead in to next season's plot. Then the last portion was just scene after scene of beautifully filmed and interwoven high tension events between the flashbacks, the car going into the lake, the sister in the bedroom, and Rosie's film.
I'm still not sure what to make of Richmond's meeting at the end of the episode with the Chief and Ames - likely regarding the waterfront project. I think obviously as one of the last scenes in a finale it probably isn't what it seems, but I wonder what they were trying to lead us to believe about it. By the way he was so cold with Gwen and determined to get down to business it seemed like he was almost accepting the dark side of politics. There was also him at his wife's grave and saying on the phone something along the lines of "It's time to move on" which might be a sign he is letting go of his previously held ideologies. Still, I can't imagine him working with Ames and the Chief.
First, the cops couldn't arrest Ames because there wasn't enough proof he had any knowledge of what happened after the meeting on the 10th floor of the casino aside from a phone call with Jamie at 3am or whatever. But now that they know the whole story about how he was actually at the scene he has to be an accessory to murder along with a whole bunch of other charges. Also, now that they have the information that the bones were actually planted at the site, won't that make it ineligible to be used for the Casino? Anyway, there is a lot of different questions with that whole situation and mostly I wonder how they are going to tie in the political angle with the new murder plot next season. They can't just have two unrelated plots going simultaneously that aren't tied in to each other in any way.

Spoilers****
I'll put more of a reaction 2marro, a little too tired right now. But for those that watched it, I guess I'm only looking at you jmose, don't you think the Richmond should have resigned/not accepted the nomination after what happened?
The fact that one of your campaign manager's was involved in a major murder is bad enough, let alone the murder was semi connected to helping out your campaign. Out of respect he should have resigned, plus I would thinkthe community would ask for his immediate resignation or impeach. Sorry for Richmond I think his career should have been over, You??
Yea I agree, mimicking the feelings of my last post, I don't even see how if he wanted to he would be able to still become mayor. Even with denying he had any knowledge of Jamie's activities the scandal that would result would be more than enough to ruin his career. Also, Ames would now have to be guilty of murder or a tangential crime since he was there when it all went down.
Anyway, after thinking about the ending a little bit more and reading about the ratings there seems to be a good chance there will not be a third season and the final scenes were just suppose to wrap it up. I still get the feeling the scene at the graveyard and Richmond walking into the meeting was supposed to leave us with the feeling that he has accepted the immoral things he has to do to succeed in politics.
The **** with the aunt was very very surprising. And all to steal a married man? What a whore.
It makes sense now why she felt the need to play Suzy Homemaker to the Larsens due to the guilt.
Solid finale but I wish the show would just be done. No need to drag **** on over more seasons. I can only take so much of Linden as she is a truly non-likeable person who deserved having her son taken away.

I still don't even know how the show could continue. But based on ratings it looks grim anyway. However, I read last week that Holder is going to be playing the next Robocop, so maybe next season could be his origin story![]()
I've been fearful this whole season this would be the last season. Really hope it continues. Just start a new case, I guess check in with Richmond from time to time, but let the whole Larsen family go. Yes sometimes the storyline was convulted or to much red herrings, but I'll borrow one from the Lost defense, its about the characters, and I think the acting was great. Can't be done with Holder yet
Anyway as far as finale it was really good, as was the season. I would like to believe that the producers had both Jamie and the sister the killers from the beginning. Not sure if its true. It fits with sister, she was always a basket case, weird looks at Ames at the funeral last season, breaking down after finding the autopsy photos of Rosie. As Onion said she took a really big role in the family after the murder. I actually find Richmonds behavior not really believable as after all he was through, and Jamie dying because of doing back dealing, and he finally wins the election, no way he goes dark side.
Show got really good when they finally had Linden trusting Holder and working together (kinda like end of last season as well) And the kid issue was ok for a while, but dragged on and he should have been sent to his father a lot earlier, too much needless drama there.
So fingers crossed, would like to see more, and possible with some AMC shows coming near a close, they will give us more.
Yea there were parts of the plot that were a bit of stretch but it didn't have that great of an negative impact on me enjoying the show. For example, I think the way they tied the sister in to be the outright murderer was a bit of a stretch. Basically the sister is sitting in the car by the lake listening to Jamie and Ames argue and she hears Ames say he wants out of the deal and no longer is going to leave his wife. Then we are expected to believe the sister's first instinct is "well if I get out and push the car into the lake murdering some innocent person Ames will have to leave his wife for me so I don't tell anyone."
I know you can make the claim love makes people do crazy things but that is a ridiculous jump to make in this case. Even if the sister hadn't gotten out and pushed the car in she still would have had leverage over Ames to run away with her just by being there that night.
But I was too immersed in the scenes and characters to really care at the time.
Edit: mysterious double post somehow..
I actually found the sister thing believable. She always was a little unhinged. Anytime her parents were on the show they were always railling on her about getting a boyfriend/life and what not. Ames is her only chance, and she's hooked on him. Then she overhears Jamie yelling about if we get rid of the girl you will finally be able to get your own money/leave your wife. I believed she could have snapped right there and did whatever she could to achieve finally bagging Ames for good.
