Could someone, in like 2 sentences, explain to me the very basics of how fantasy football works?

There's a draft online where you pick like 20 players for your team (nobody else can have the player that you picked).

Then they use stats throughout the season to see who wins each head to head game and you can bench and start players.

You draft a team of players that play in the NFL on your team, and you compete against another team each week. Points are based off of each players performance. Generally you pick one QB, a running back, 2 WR, maybe a kicker, a wildcard that can be like a WR or RB and a defense.

I'm trying to learn as much about the NFL as I can, because there's great money making opportunities as a bookmaker. Less than 10% of people that bet on the NFL make a dime from it, which is mind boggling to me given both the low numbers of games each team plays. You would think that, at worst, picking completely blind would leave you close to the 40-50% range, but apparently NFL bettors love dogs that don't pan out. Unfortunately, I abhor the sport and can't stomach even watching a single game, so I have to compensate.

and for Ash' benefit - trash talking is a major component of the world of Fantasy Football. In person drafts may be the best opportunity to completely destroy someone's confidence before the season even starts.
