    1. Oklahoma (42)
    2. Alabama (13)
    3. Oregon (2)
    4. LSU (2)

The top 4 are interchangeable. I like Alabama/LSU out of the west to be national champs.

    5. Florida State
    6. Stanford
    7. Boise State
    8. Oklahoma State
    9. Texas A&M
    10. Wisconsin

I would move Wisconsin into 7 where Boise St is, and the rest slide down a notch. With Russell Wilson coming to Madison, it looks like we will finally have a playmaker at the QB position. I think our O will be elite, but our D can't get us to the title game. Should be another Rose Bowl for us. The Big 12 must be down if A&M is getting this much love. In fact with 3 teams in the top ten, the Big 12 is getting an awful lot of love that I don't get.

    11. Nebraska
    12. South Carolina
    13. Virginia Tech
    14. Arkansas
    15. TCU

Nebraska will not be rated this high at the end of the season. They face all the best Big Ten teams this year. I say they will finish with 4 losses. South Carolina is the only team in the SEC east that is worthy of a ranking. SEC west is stacked though.
    16. Ohio State
    17. Michigan State
    18. Notre Dame
    19. Auburn
    20. Mississippi State

Ohio St. still fields great athletes, but with their coach gone I wonder how they will be prepared for gameday. Michigan St. might have the best QB in the Big Ten, not sold on their D. Notre Dame gets ranked because they are Notre Dame and only because of that.

    21. Missouri
    22. Georgia
    23. Florida
    24. Texas
    25. Penn State

Other than Missouri, these other teams are ranked based on name brand alone. based off of last years teams, these guys aren't top 25 coming into this year. Florida breaks in a new offense, and has a tough schedule. The are likely a top 25 talent, but it's going to be another rough year due to the mentioned factors.

Im sick of the aTM as well as FSU and Clemson to the SEC. Say what you want but the SEC is clearly the best conference. We dont need any more teams. Why keep up with the Big Ten and Pac 10? The SEC is the stardard right now. Its all about money though, but yet they come down on the kids.

I cant wait for the start of the season. Im very excited about what LSU could bring. Its all on JJ or if Mettenberger will be played. Miles sticks too much with kids so we will see. Mettenberger is the real deal, he showed a lot of potential in the spring game for the little experience and O he new. The D should be excellent. With a very quick DL and argubly the best secondary in the country. The Oregan game should really set the tone.

Its gonna be another slobber knocker in the SEC this year. I cant wait!
Seriously dude? You are going to say the media is always all over OU?? I mean, I'm a guy sitting here with a longhorn tattoo on my arm, so you know I wouldn't piss on an OU fan if they were on fire. But for someone to mention media hype, and then to pretend as if a team from the SEC is being overlooked by the media???? OMG

Any SEC team gets overrated every single year because of the HUGE TV deals the SEC has. ALABAM #1? They lost their starting QB, lost one of the best WR in the nation etc etc. I hate those punks north of the river, but OU has a flat out STUD starting QB and WR returning, along with offense and defense starters returning. You are crazy, and may God have mercy on your soul. By the way, LSU sucks. They couldn't score 30 points on a high school team. That offense is atrocious.

Well you are new here so let me give you a tour of the college football discussion thread history. Acidbath is going to be the SEC nuthugger here. Lucky is an LSU fan too(and thus SEC fan next) but not nearly as annoying with his nuthugging. Iron Maiden just likes the game but he isn't around lately. Sportsgenius and Loot are OSU fans, but sportsgenius has been missing for a bit. Guilty is the only Big 12 until you, and he is an Ok St guy.

Usually these threads are pretty indepth and fun to comment on. A lot of long time guys that participate don't look like they are here. Hopefully they get in here by season start.

But anyway, welcome to this thread. I am always welcoming to SEC bashers. They've put the national champ out there for a bit, but otherwise their conference as a whole isn't as superior to the others as they think.

The SEC teams are overrated??? HAve you watched the last 5 BCSCGs? Not to mention 7 BCS titles. Nuff said.

Yeah Bama is bringing in a new QB which does hurt but no way is Ou the consensus #1 like the media is pushing them to be. The SEC gets its love but there is also a backlash to create drama. Ou does have a lot of talent I give them that but many years they are touted as a major contender only to crumble.

LSU did have an atrocious O. Yet they still tore apart a top Big 12 team.

Im not on Cripplers x-mas gift list because I do prefer SEC football despite being a huge fan overall. Fact is this board is pro Big 10. With more Big 10 fans than anything.

Its all good, I love the sport and cant wait for the season to start. Sure I want my Tigers to do well but I love the games regardless.

Yes I watch games...that's how I know the SEC is overrated. Yes I saw LSU beat Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. Last year was a VERY DOWN year for the Big 12, and let's please not act like A&M was a studhorse team....and exactly what is a "top" Big 12 team? There were 3 or 4 teams in the Big 12 that were better last year.

Listen, the truth is this.....the SEC is a conference full of cheaters. The refs in that conference are consistently the WORST in college football. They ALWAYS happen to make calls against the teams looking for an upset so as to conveniently always leave an SEC team undefeated. I promise you this, at some point this season, the highest ranked SEC team will be in BIG TROUBLE during a game, only to have a terrible call go their way helping them to victory. It happens every single year. The SEC are scum. Thanks for your time!

Oh and one more thing. I get sick of hearing "those SEC defenses are just so darn good". Might I suggest that maybe the defenses look so darn good because the SEC offenses are just so damn BAD. Watching an SEC team is like watching Anthony Johnson defeat Dan Hardy.....it's just flat ass boring to watch, and much like a nerd at the high school prom...the chances of someone scoring are SLIM TO NONE.

Lets say A&M was 3 or 4, thats where LSU was as well. So its even and LSU straight owned them. Fact is the SEC can usually put at least 3 teams that are legit top 10 national title contenders.

As for the refs, please, that goes on in EVERY conference. Refs will usually call for the home team. There are far more reasons to lose than a bad call here or there. LSU has had its share of bad calls, like the clear INT Peterson had against Bama. I never blamed the refs, thats a cop out. LSU had their opportunities to win to not let it bet to that. If its all on the refs then why every year the SEC usually has an exceptional bowl record? When all the other major conferences have had years of stinking it up with sub .500 records. Also if its the SEC refs then why 5 straight BCS champs? Case closed!

I agree the last two years the SEC Ds havent been quite as dominant. I also agree the Os havent been too impressive. As a whole though the SEC does have the better Ds because of depth on the DL. Overall the last decade the SEC has had some great Ds. I think its cyclical, it just happens to be the time of the SEC.

In all honesty Im expecting LSU to lose 3-4 this year. I think in the end we will be a legit top tier team but the hellacious schedule will be difficult. Oregan, W Va, Bama, Miss St, Auburn, UF, and Ark. Add to that a bunch of boneheads broke curfew and got in a brawl in a club. I know kids will break curfew, but the fighting is the big issue. From what it sounds like Miles wont be easy on them once all the details are out. JJ and a few other starters and major contributors were involved. Id rather Miles keep the integrity of the program, even if it means losing to Oregan and set an example since it was so many of them.

Amen bro! I love coming here to debate college football. Agree or disagree, for me the discussions are fun and never personal. Im getting so amped up for the season. I think it will be a great one with a lot of good teams. Thing is all the top teams have questions of some sort.

Ou- Outside of last year hadnt done much in the big BCS games in recent years.
    Bama- New, inexperienced QB.
Oregan- Lost a lot of starters.
    LSU- Stagnant O.

I think Cripps Badgers will be hella tough this year with Wilson coming in at QB. He brings an athleticism to the position that hasnt been there. Not to mention he is also a great passer. You know UW will bring a great OL every year, plus play with a ton of heart and intensity. IMO clear faves to win the Big Ten with OSU down. I dont think Nebraska is up to the hype.

It's one of the seasons I am the most excited for, and I was pretty excited for last year. Wilson has been getting glowing reviews in fall camp from people who are usually pretty critical, or play down any expectations we might have. He is the clear cut number 1 right out of the gate. QB was our biggest question mark, and that seems to have been answered. He won't need to be the offense by himself like he was at NC State. He will have a top 10-15 running game with him and a better OL than NC State.

Our defense should be ok. We haven't had anyone step up to replace JJ Watt. We have 2 really good linebackers, but they are injury prone. If they stay healthy, we should be stout against the run. Again, pass D is the question mark on the defense. After having some really good corners under Alvarez, it seems like we have missed the boat on getting in some top talent in this area under Bielema. We have experience at the corners and the SS position, so hopefully that will be enough to get us in another BCS game. Special teams we have a senior K and P, and should be good there.
    RIP Cammy

Laundry is not a STUD quarterback. He's just not. He plays in a pass happy offense with a great receiver and puts up big numbers against bad teams. Secondly, the media is always all over ou's nuts. Whether it's local or national, ou rivals anyone in hype. Anyone except maybe Texas.

I bet you anything Alabama or LSU would kill to have him starting for them. He's a VERY good QB. Yes that O is pass happy, but I'm telling you, the guy is very good and they will be extremely difficult to stop. Of course Stoops will coach Oklahoma into a loss in whatever bowl game they play because that's what he does. "Big Game Bob" makes more bonehead calls in big games than any big time coach out there.
