Hmmmm!! I hate the gi, but this is kinda cool!! I will definitely try this...thank u sir!!
It works better (like the guy said in the video) if you go all the way under and get ahold of the wrist (either his or yours). You get more leverage that way because you're using your own arm (rather than relying on his pants, belt, shorts, whatever).
It won't work against someone who is skilled though (although someone who is skilled probably won't be turtling up).
Ok so I tried this and it works well....its a nice option against someone who stalls from the turtle position. Most guys I train with only turtle for a second or two until they either sit to guard, sit thru, roll to guard etc so its very hard to do in that situation....however, this will def work against rookies or if you are able to lace that wrist immediatelyyyy!!
The wrist lace isnt the firs thing I look for when someone turtles....I look to keep my hips on top of theirs, get over/under etc.
So this move WILL work given the right circumstances BUT I don't think its going to be there often.
