And the wierdness continues with Pink Floyds Nick Mason (drums), Mike Rutherford of Genesis (invisible on guitar) andsome guys Ive never heard of doing Pink Floyds Wish You Were Here while a tightrope walker is on the wire above. did every single great Brit band turn this down or did Danny Boyle not even ask them? At least they got McCartney in the opening ceremony because the ending sure sucks. The tight rope walker recreates the album cover of Wish You Were Here as he shakes hands with a mannequin that bursts on fire.

Is this Russell Brand singing the Willy Wonka song? It is. Now he lip sincs the Beatles. Boyle should run out of town on a rail for these closing ceremonies.

Now they have fatboy Slim dj'ing from a giant octopus. A dj playing tapes at the Olympics? And how in the hell is the British Empire known for octopuses? I am embarrased for England that Boyle did this to them.

Spice Girs reunion. This is the best they could do? I guess this was the payoff for Beckham to give his wife something to do.

As Ali G once asked Posh Spice: "When your son grows up, do you want him to be a football player like his father? Or a singer like, Mariah Carey?"

Boyle had nowt to do with the closing ceremony, some dude called Kim Gavin was running the show. They need to stop people performing Queen songs with Queen. However talented Jessie J is she ain't Freddie. That said Brian May's guiter solo was amazeballs. Eric Idle was fun, The Bee Gees tribute was good, The Who were OK and I didn't care for the rest of the music. Creepy smooth Brazilian white sequin tuxedo was probably the highlight for me.

First athlete has had a medal stripped: a female Belarussian shot-putter. The thing is, she had won by a whopping 66 cm (or about 25 inches for you Yanks). That's an astounding margin.

Now, her use of steroids clearly helped her achieve that remarkable distance. But you have to wonder (and she must be wondering) could she still have been the best in the world and a legit gold medallist if she hadn't used steroids at all? I think there is a good chance she would have been, but we'll never know for sure.

Interesting stuff. I heard about the Scotland independence thing, but had no idea it was that serious.

So the Who did play afterall? I saw the tribute but cut it off before the end. Nbc tv network had sole broadcast rights and cut it off early to show a stcom.

Members of the Congo and Cameroon team/delegations have gone missing. Most likely they want to defect.
