Started damp and then started to dry out. FP2 has Schumi ahead of Hulkenberg by 0.1s. It seems that he was trying really hard to beat it. It is unclear why though but Merc have been pretty secretive so far.
Alonso fourth, Massa 7th, Rosberg 9th, Vettel 10th.

Just watched all of P1 on SPEED... The damp track can certainly be misleading, but not all that much. Seems Mclaren really was onto something with the stock looking nose and other functions to make the car quick. While i agree Friday isnt going to tell the story of the GP, but it certainly gives us an insight to where things are going to take off from. Absolutely love seeing the boy wonder in 11th..

It would be foolish to look into Vettel's placing of 11th as an indicator of anything. I surmise race fuel simulations happening with those times.

As far as McLaren's snow plow nose goes, it's a 2011 concept. In fact, a lot of the car is based on the 2011 designs. Is it quicker? Nobody knows. Friday means nothing. Fuel testing, setup tests. Too many variables to consider.

highlights from p3.Vetel spins and put the car in the gravel trap.Schumi goes off in the same spot and talks the crane operator into not lifting the car in the air.Qualfying starting now for me

Kimi out in q1.Never went to the softs and cut a final lap too close and ran out of time.Poor work from the Lotus team.Massa on the softs squeaks by in 17th.Gonna be some serious overtime for the team to find some speed.

I like to catch the occasional grand prix but I miss way too many to keep up. I like watching F1 and I think I'll try harder to follow it this season. I have a couple of questions though: Who do you think are the favourites? Any new drivers to watch out for? Is Trulli still in F1?
