Default Fedor Emelianenko vs. Pedro Rizzo Booked For June 21 In Russia

After weeks of speculation, Fedor Emelianenko officially has an opponent for June 21.

Emelianenko (33-4, 1 NC) will face three-time UFC heavyweight title contender Pedro Rizzo (19-9), M-1 Global Director of Operation Evgeni Kogan announced early Friday morning.

The pair will meet under the M-1 Global banner on June 21 at the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, promotion officials confirmed to CageReligion.com on Friday.

After suffering three consecutive losses under the Strikeforce banner, Emelianenko recently got back on the winning track with back-to-back victories over Jeff Monson and Satoshi Ishii. In his most recent outing, the former PRIDE Fighting Championships heavyweight champion scored a first-round knockout victory over Ishii at DREAM Fight for Japan 2012.

Rizzo, meanwhile, hasn't competed since July of 2010 where he earned a first-round technical knockout victory over Ken Shamrock at Impact FC 2. The victory marked his third-straight, having also defeated veterans Jeff Monson and Gary Goodridge in recent years.

Rizzo, Duffee, Kharitonov and Lesnar are the only ones left outside of ufc and worthy of being in a ring with Fedor. It is a good fight, Fedor should have an easy win though.

Explain to me how this is a good fight for someone who is arguably the greatest of all time supposedly still relevant.

Rizzo hasn't fought in two years, and his last wins were over Ken Shamrock and Gary "Dementia" Goodridge!

This is probably about as good as it's going to get. When it comes to avaliable opponents, Kharitonov is really the only fighter worthy of fighting Fedor, and they probably won't fight.

This is a complete and total joke. Just retire already if you are only going to keep fighting cans like Rizzo. I guess Ken Shamrock wasn't available to take another dive.

    Onion and danl08

Where have you been for the past 2 years? The best fighters are in the ufc, and ufc doesn't want to sign fedor because of that bitch diana white. This is one of the best fighs we can expect for fedor outside of the ufc. It should keep him active, and we can hope for better matchups in future.

Do you REALLY want to start this fight? Haven't you had enough?

Did anyone mention sad, sad, sad?

Oh, yes, Onion covered that already. Thread is complete. Time to move on. Wish Fedor would do the same.
