Default Psycho Sid sets up bleachers, misses fight

You know your career is winding down when...

Canadian Wrestling Elite has announced that "Psycho" Sid Vicious will not be appearing at tonight's show at Maples Community Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba because he missed his scheduled flight this morning. According to CWE official Danny Warren, Vicious explained that he was sore from setting up bleachers last night and decided to sleep in.

"Unfortunately at this time I have to regretfully inform everyone that "Psycho" Sid Vicious decided not to get on his plane this morning, first because he "slept in" followed by not wanting to get on another flight as his knees were sore from setting up bleachers last night.. Yes, ****ing bleachers. Refunds will be available tonight for anyone who would like one," Warren wrote on Facebook.

Vicious has a history of being unreliable to wrestling promoters as he has no-showed several scheduled appearances throughout his career. More recently, Vicious skipped an advertised appearance for Pro Wrestling Syndicate on March 9, explaining that his wallet was stolen and couldn't make his scheduled flight. In response, event promoter Pat Buck called Vicious during the show in the middle of the ring and had the audience boo him while leaving a voice message. Buck then disclosed Vicious' phone number to fans.

I'm sure Cbear can answer that question better than I can, but his slack attitude combined with some serious injuries cost him while he was in WWE, I believe.

The name Psycho Sid wasnt by accident. He was very contrary and would no show events on a whim. He first started main eventing as the original Lord Humongous in the south, had success for Lawler, and his size and insane character got over in WCW and WWE. He wasnt nearly as hard to do business with that Warrior was, but he was a loose cannon. His horrible leg break is what ended it for him.

Sid was always crazy over when he was in the WWF. He may have been an unsavory character behind the scenes, but the crowd loved him, and I think not having him as a main eventer for longer was a big mistake.

Sid was successful everywhere he went from the very beginning. He was never a very good worker and his mic skills were hit or miss but he was a huge guy and he had a real life aura of danger which really appealed to fans--especially in the south. Had he been more willing to play the game politically he probably could have been even more successful than he was. He made his mark in the business for sure. Sid is a great example of a guy whose gimmick should not be messed with. It works well but when you try to make him a babyface or change the gimmick, it kills it.

I heard an interview with him some years back and he mentioned he was one of the biggest draws in wrestling history by proxy of just being a main eventer when rasslin was red hot in the '90s. Think there's any truth to that?

Didn't Sid try to sue WCW after that incident since they apparently told him specifically to do more moves off the top/middle ropes?
