Thread: The Avengers

Going today to an early show with the kids (taking them out of school early on a Fri to see the Avengers - is there a better Dad in all of the world. I say NO). Still trying to decide on IMAX or seeing it at The Uptown. For those of you not in DC, The Uptown is the last of the old school theaters with a super big screen, balcony and general 1950s ambiance.

I'm pumped to see this movie, hoping to do so Sunday afternoon.

On a side note, on the latest trailer where they do a panoramic around the team, Thor, Hulk flex/yells, Iron does his thing and what does black widow do? Why reload her 9mm LMAO!!

Exactly. I thought they played Maria Hill a bit too cool. In the books she's generally a smug, miserable twat. Also, I really expected them to introduce Agent Sharon Carter, so Rogers would have a love interest for the next Cap movie. Oh, and how f*cking cool was the Helicarrier?!

    Spoiler.......

....I was really expecting Red Skull myself, but as dwarofdoom mentioned it was Thanos. That sets the bar pretty high, and definitely justifies bringing even more characters into the next one.

I always laugh at that part too! All the other characters are so "larger than life" awesome and ready for battle...and then :: reloads tiny gun ::

One of these things is not like the other!

    Mate it was fantastic.

I'm anxious/excited about what they'll do with Cap and Black Widow/Hawkeye in their next movies. Thor and Iron Man I could write hit sequels to but Cap needs a bit more care and I'm assuming Hawkeye and Widow won't be put on hiatus till the next Avenger flick.

Eh... Thanos. So the entire next movie is going to be the same story but revolve the infinity gauntlets.

This movie was Fan-****ing-Tastic! I also took my 7 year old daughter out of school early too so we could see it. The only true worry I had going into this movie was how they would have room for all the characters to shine, but they had no problem with that at all. Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and Cap all had great moments of course, but even Hawkeye and Black Widow shined as well. Thanos at the end was awesome, I can't wait to see him throw down with the Avengers.
Have you tried NOT being a mutant?

I agree completely. What a great movie! All of us enjoyed it, although I'm not sure about the younger ones going. I'd have to think about that a little bit.
