Default Prediction : Eddie Alvarez vs Anthony Pettis

Alvarez will be a free agent soon and was with Dana White at UFC on Fox. I imagine the process will run similar to the the way it went with Hector Lombard.

White said they need to figure something out for Showtime. I think this is the fight they want to make.

He won't be fighting Pettis because it's going to be awhile till he is booked if he does sign. His Bellator contract he stated is one more fight or 4 months whichever comes first. If he isnt given a fight within 4 months, he is free to negotiate with Zuffa.

That would mean he probably signs around September if he did sign with Zuffa, I would expect him around November-January to fight. Pettis aint sitting out that long.

That would make sense time frame wise. And Gil desperately needs to fight a higher profile opponent.

It would surprise me if it really is four months until he can negotiate based on how things are looking right now. Alvarez said that a few weeks ago but I think we may hear something much sooner.

Why put Alvarez and Gil together? That would wreck to potential contenders they could market further down the line. I'm also not a fan of given Pettis to Alvarez as I think Eddie would wreck him, although it wouldn't be too much of a disaster as Pettis is still young and can be built up again in the future.

Isn't Pettis recovering from surgery? He would be pushing to be fit to fight on the same card as Henderson v Edgar if it was September. He could easily wait until December, if he was told that it will be the number 1 contender fight.

I dunno. I think it would be a fun close fight. The thing about eddie is that he very hittable, and gets dropped or wobbled in almost every damn fight (reminds me of old wanderlei). Problem there is that Pettis can find the opening to hurt him as easy or easier than his other opponents, and has a great killer instinct when he has people hurt. If eddie gets wobbled, he may not get a chance to recover.
