    Default Flyweight rankings.

Flyweight rankings are difficult to do even for many hardcore MMA fans since most of the division's history has been in Shooto which is nearly impossible to watch in the USA or in Pancrase, which is the same exact story. In the USA over the last couple years Tachi Palace Fighting has been setting the stage for the UFC's division, but I wonder how well the fanbase really knows the flyweight division of a casino show. Most of us just haven't seen many of the relevant flyweights in action.

The Sherdog top ten still kinda dickrides shooto fighters they've had woodies for years for, like "BJ" and this new guy who beat him, Nam Jin Jo. I imagine the rankings over the next year, like with the BW and FW rankings a few years ago, will steadily move away from the shooto guys towards the UFC fighters. I imagine Jon Dodson will kick BJ or one of those other foreign promotion fighters off at the next update. TPF will lose their best guys to the UFC and the ones who stay will fall in the rankings.

Fight Matrix just updated their rankings after this UFC card and they're pretty good as far as I can tell.

The UFC has 9 flyweights. Partially because of the lower profile of Asian fighters and partially because Japanese fighters tend to get their asses kicked when faced with American wrestlers who can punch and defend submissions, I have a strong urge to put most of the UFC guys in the top ten over the Asian guys, even if they've been ranked longer.

    Mine :

    1. Joseph Benavidez - His power is nuts at this weight class. The UFC made flyweight for him
    2. Ian McCall - Stash power. This guy is so cool I hate to root against him in favor of DJ.
    3. Demetrious Johnson - Fastest fighter ever in Zuffa. I want him to win a good fight against McCall so we can see him fight Benavidez.
    4. John Dodson - Dodson is another one of those guys this weight class was created for. It is good to finally see him in the UFC.
    5. Jussier De Silva - Time to ditch Tachi Palace and the regional shows. The UFC would probably have more interest if he had some TKO wins.
    6. Louis Goudinot - Being a finisher is important in this weight class. Lets see him fight Dodson next.
    7. Tim Elliot - Should have thrown more spin kicks late in the fight against Dodson.
    8. Yasuhiro Uru****ani - Coming from Shooto directly to the UFC to fight Joseph Benavidez is a recipe for disaster.
    9. Mamaru Yamaguchi - This guy has been fighting stateside for a while now and can finish fights. He is a must-sign for the UFC.
    10. John Lineker - Cause UFC. Whatever.

I expected Dodson to maul Elliott. I was disappointed in his showing.

Are you the guy who did all of these ranking posts a few months ago? If so, did you not learn your lesson then?

I think you are mistaken. What lesson did this person learn?

Going into the fight Elliot was Fightmatrix no. 7 flyweight. So the guy was not chopped liver. Uncle creepy held his own against another former bantamweight people thought would smash him!

I wasn't expecting mighty mouse to smash uncle creepy. Why would you count out uncle creepy. I guess its a case of me not knowing much about Elliott going in. I just figured he was a goofy little bassturd with bad hair that got a late call-up.

If you look at his record, it is a bit suspect. Dodson seems to dislike it when other fighters "pressure" him. If he thinks he's winning and his confident of his chances, then he will go all out. But if he doesn't, he's fairly cautious.

I had Creepy winning pre fight. Just that he was +400 or +500 on the betting line, which is a big under dog.

I expected creepy/mighty mouse to be exactly what it was. And I can't wait for the rematch. Nor can I wait for the winner vs. Joe b. These flyweights are amazing.

Still don't know how people aren't ranking Creepy as number #1 considering what he did to da Silva (not to mention, he beat the living piss out of Mighty Mouse). I can't justify Benavidez as anything other than #2 for the time being.
