    Thumbs up Prometheus

I'm going to bed, but I just wanted to say to anyone who might be on the fence about seeing Prometheus - GO! Amazing visuals, great cast, great acting, great score and the best use of 3D since Avatar. This movie begs to be seen on the big screen and in 3D. Can't recommend it enough. Sci-fi Ridley Scott is back in a big way.

!!!SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!!!

I'm a huge Alien fan so I was looking forward to this movie. I was elated when I found out that it would NOT be PG-13 because that fücking PG-13 has ruined Terminator, Predator and Die Hard so the R rating came as good news. But here are some thoughts I have about the movie.

    The Bad:

I thought it was good. There were some cheesy moments that made me cringe, the way that Dr. Shaw used the same line her dad used just 15 minutes ago, how obvious it was that Theron's character was related to Weyland but when it was revealed the music was supposed to enhance some feeling of "Damn, he was her father!?".
There were some typical clichés but that's to be expected from Hollywood movies.
There were some funny moments too. Like, that because an area with of a couple of hundred square miles had no life that must mean that the rest of the planet is deserted. I also laughed at the biologist not showing any sign of restraint when he meat an alien life form for the first time and how he thought that life form was friendly. As a biologist I would've thought that he could see the similarities between the alien's behavior and that of a cobra.
I also think there were a lot of holes in the general storyline, but I think that I'd have to see the movie again.
I hated when the xenomorph lookalike was born. Like, it took 2 minutes to be created inside a body that was barely big enough to hold it. It felt sort of forced. I would have liked a more smooth transition or none at all.

    The Good:

I agree that the visuals were great, I watched it in 2D however but if it's use of 3D was better than Avatar then it must've been great.
I also liked that they used the spacejockeys from the first Alien movie. I really hope that there will be a sequel to this movie because, even though it wasn't great I still think it was pretty good and I would like to see how Dr. Shaw does with finding the rest of the aliens.

On a score of 1-10 I'd give it around 7.

    1) You only have 1 eye?

    2) 3D is crap. Most of it is shoddily done post-fact as a marketing gimmick, and the 3D projection actually diminishes the amount of light on the screen, making it a worse image. That said, some do make good use of it, like Avatar.

I have 2 eyes, but I'm blind in one of them. When I went to see Avatar the 3D stuff didn't work for me and the picture was a horrible mess, so I had to leave. When I went to see Jackass 3D I didn't notice things pop out towards me, but wearing the glasses did make the film much clearer and watchable. My understanding of how 3D works is poor.

It's an old gimmick that basically uses a different contrast in each eye that mashes up and creates "3D" (kinda like how if ur hand is close to one eye, but not the other, you'll still see your hand but it'll be kinda transparent).

Most 3D films have very little 3D in them, and the scenes that do are low quality. Films like Avatar were designed with 3D in mind, so at the 3D showings you'll need the full use of the glasses.

I remember seeing Freddy's Dead in theatre and having to use the lame ass red/blue 3D glasses. This old fat lady sitting in front of me started wearing them from the very start of the movie despite there being notices not to until prompted, and she spent the entirety of the movie complaining about how uncomfortable they were, and how it was ruining her enjoyment of the film.

Annoying old fat ladies in movie theaters are a widespread epidemic. They should be devoid of basic human rights, IMO.
