I found it a little dull but it has some great visuals and some very good scenes. I'll be curious to read your review.

hoping to catch it next weekend!1 from the negatives I read, is that the bring up a lot of questions of points that just get dropped ala Lost ala Lindelof had a hand in writing the movie.

Nonetheless I am still amped to see.

I'm really not getting the slow/dull vibes. I'm guessing the people who found Prometheus slow must have hated Alien, because that film makes this one look like Crank.

Michael Fassbender gives his best performance to date IMO. i really liked it, but I can understand the dull comments. I think it stems from a non-traditional script. The Alien films pretty much all followed the same formula with the heroine kicking Alien ass all the while there are good guys and bad guys that reveal themselves. This movie doesn't really have a set formula and therein is what I enjoyed about it. It kind of felt like a sci-fi documentary instead of an action thriller. Visually the movie is unbelievable. I've never seen 3D this clear before.

    4/5 stars

I agree, my problems with this movie isn't it's pace. I like slow but intense build ups and I think Prometheus did very well in that department.

i have no problems with the movie. I love the first 3 movies in the Alien franchise. Make it 4 now with Prometheus. Its a bit slow to start, but it picks up and doesnt stop. Fassbender and Rapace steal the show. Fassbender is just great as David. He keeps turning in great performances one after another, quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. And Rapace, she is great as the heroine of the movie. Her performance imo is another reason along with Fassbender that makes this movie even better. Its nice to see Rapace in these english roles after doing the Millennium Trilogy. The movie gets a 4.5/5 from me i saw it twice on Imax.

To be honest, I actually am not a fan of Alien specifically for that reason. I was worried Promethius would have similar pacing issues.

Loved Alien. Great atmosphere and tension. My problem with Prometheus isn't with the pacing as much as with the plot direction.

    SPOILERS BELOW

I really like the concept of a universal mythology regarding Man's origins and the idea of journeying to the point in space where these ancient myths concur our creator's came from. Great so far. Once they get there our creators turn out to be a bunch of giant albino a$$holes who want to destroy humanity. The movie really lost me at this point. The writers could have done better and come up with something more imaginative. Great set-up weak payoff.

Watched it twice in a row on Saturday afternoon. My girlfriend and I were discussing the plot as we were making our way out of the theater and it was readily apparent that we each had questions, so we ordered popcorn and beer and sat our asses back down. Walking out the second time, we agreed that the second showing made more sense (other than the scientists making bizarre and completely irresponsible choices) and was just as fun.

I wouldn't mind seeing it in 3D. Some of the scenes seem like they'd really lend themselves to spectacular use of that format.
