    That is funny.

If the difference between $25,000 a fight (UFC) and $2,000 a fight (regional, probably exaggerated) was one loss, then I would damn well make sure I was 100% coming in. It wouldn't be worth the risk to fight injured.

As a heavy, I can say it is almost entirely useless sparring with someone way out of your weightclass. Running drills may be ok, but sparring just sucks for all involved. For the heavier person, there is a weird hesitation from going hard, and if you try to just work technique it is likely the smaller person is actually going pretty hard, so then you try to compensate with a bit more strength; then bad things happen.

Of course, some gyms are limited on sparring partners. So, what is a guy to do?

When Tim Sylvia gives blood, he declines the syringe, and requests a gun and a bucket.

I have no comeback for that. Clearly Shell is the only true warrior in MMA, he not only gets to legally cheat but gets the smacktalk win too, he's a real Captain America, gets juiced up to the gills, talks down the foreigners and also gets the UFC Shield!

To be fair, It's a well known fact that college hwts are the biggest jokes in wrestling. Most are just plain soft, and get consistently whooped on by us 197lbers.

Normally, you are a very rational person, but this screams of hyperbole. There isn't any true MMA fighter yet, and I believe it's still doubtful there will be. Is it possible? Yes, but most fighters tend towards one style at worst, or two styles at best.
